  1. Golden rule ? when wearing tight lycra only focus on the wheel in front of you and at all costs avoid looking at anything that could cause an embarrassment!<?:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />
  2. found this a while ago http://cyclo-core.com/ - looks interesting enough, but then again everyone is an expert. chin-ups are great - it will work your abs, back, shoulders & even neck. if you get stronger grab a dumbell between your legs. grab the bar with your palms facing outwards i.e. away from your face with your thumbs on your side of the bar - very similar than resting on the tops of the bike bar during a long climb. las keep your knees bent at about 45deg.
  3. ta jason - can get the FIR's for about half the price of the ZIP including a cluster. the only thing i can get on the FIR's is "A 58mm cross section, excellent braking surface and 1600 gram pair weight make the Antara the ultimate racing wheel. The Antara was raced to victory in the Giro d'Italia in 2001 by Gilberto Simoni. " - so I suspect it could be old tech.
  4. Are any of these really worth the money? What would be better to get - the 303 or 404? I assume the 404's are great of there is no crosswind - this would lead me to think that the 303's would receive more use. Anyone know anything about FIR wheels?
  5. no probs with my GP4000 so far. had issues with numerous punctures in schwalbe & hutchinson (not even to mention the Vittoria Diamante Pro Lite that came with the bike!!!!) the hutch got a massive hole after about 2 weeks of riding - started off as a small cut from glass and the thread just went after that. spent 80km of the Wilro 100 on the back of a flatbed truck because of Hutchinson. dont think they make the Conti Front / Rear as strong as the GP4000. watch out for stones knicking the tire on the sidewall - in Europe where they test these things potholes, boulders & broken Zamalek bottles do not exist.
  6. TACX carbon - very strong & never had a problem. the alu one is also good
  7. I would rather sit with tar on my clothes than to sit with this guilty feeling of not going for a ride this morning because I was too lazy and it was way to cold! Now I have to sit for a hour on the indoor this evening while watching Egoli! I am bonking just at the thought of it!
  8. Seems they did not weigh the R3. I have seen photos of Basso on it in the GIRO with metal plates fitted below the bottle cage to get the weight up.
  9. Yep - that?s the one. Strange how one always manages to find little excuses for not wanting to race even though you know that you have to!
  10. Hope this 80 km/h wind disappears! It can get rather hectic after Wonder Caves.
  11. Cant figure out the route. Is it going over the 800m gravel section just before the Rhino Reserve / Wonder caves? Does it go up Hekpoort? I see some serious traffic issues at the Lanseria intersection and the section at Cedar road!
