  1. so was it copman in our bunch with the TCS kit on? on the topic - BASSO LOOKS LIKE SMURF IN THE DISCO KIT!!! - cant see how he will be taken seriously anymore.
  2. mmm - bauhaus, the clash, cure, front line assembly, metallica, james, laibach, led zep, nine inch nails, rob zombie, the smiths, velvet underground, madness, thomas dolby etc. was a bodyguard for The Mission when they first visited ZA - nice student job!
  3. also there - i think that there is a post on this race somewhere else on the site in any case don't know the area - is the "light" north-westerly a tailwind (coming back) or a headwind (coming back) or a sidewind (going there & back)?
  4. a guy was knocked down right in front of me this morning doing the Engen Classic. head-on collision with an Audi. the poor guy flew right over the car. the guy is OK, but the bike was in 3 pieces. this was 100% our fault - going the wrong way around a traffic circle as we do every single morning! one might think that the pack learnt something from this, but 20 minutes later it was more of the same! - still a hell of a ride though!!!!

  7. try oxford or hans strydom early in the morning - looks like a funride! they all must be training for the argus!
  8. morninside cycles have FSA stems. seems the FSA stuff is a bit difficult to get hold of in SA apart from the cranksets.

  11. problem now is that if I get dropped from the vets bunch I am going to have to wait a very long time before I can catch the A bus coming past!
  12. yep - also did the route with the club yesterday - i only lasted until kia sands & turned back home as i was not feeling well at all! i was for sure overdoing it the past week - completely missed saturday's ride & should not even have gone out on sunday - got back home & spent the whole day in bed sleeping! anyhow - a couple of steep hills in the route - the ones in randburg just before the taxi rank really took me by surprise - going up witkoppen is also going to be fun! a couple of nice big potholes on the route!
  13. did not mean that the AL etc. are not safe - only speculating that they are having bunches start further apart to avoid one big bunch of 300+ on the road. Licensed riders = no tailwind but a bitch of a headwind coming back Unlicensed riders = "hellova" tailwind going out & the same bitch of a headwind as the lics coming back So - unlicensed riders should get better times than the licensed?
  14. i have not done many races, but this the furthest i have seen the bunches start from each other (compare this to the 4 minutes apart for the 94.7). i have not done this race before, but it seems that it is VERY fast - i think safety is the biggest reason for the bunches starting so far apart. what time does the short route start?
  15. does the iBike thing work on airflow? sounds like a very unreliable system to me!
  16. mine does the same - ultegra & dura ace & on 2 different bikes. but then again, i dont ride like that 'cause i know i shouldnt!

  21. ok - so just more than 2 weeks to go for the big one (for some of us!) how do you train? fast pace this saturday with some LSD on sunday (or OFM)? normal training next week? race next week end - vashumi OR bakwena (or both?) with some more LSD the other day? take it easy the last week? any intervals? do you drop a KG or 2? i always seem to start a race with sore legs & want to get this one just right!
