  1. should be interesting. i am not a club member & therefore did not even know about this. if i was a club member & knew about this, i would have been there. why is he in ZA in any case?
  2. n the one side of the scale you get the bontrager XXXlite coming in at about 50g per tube. on the other end you have the no-name brand sitting at about 200g per tube.<?:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /> the in-betweeners range from about 75-150g. do the lighter tubes puncture more easily than the heaver (thicker) ones? my thinking is that once something has managed to pierce your tyre, it will for sure pierce the tube no matter if it is the very thin 50g one or the thicker 150g one. where i do see the advantage of the thicker tube is in the event of snake bites, but this should really only happen when you ride the tyre too soft. it seems to negate the purpose of buying a light wheelset & tires & then run them with 150 - 200g tubes. any comments?
  3. also have a pair - very nice - ordered online some time ago. one slight problem could be that they are a bit warm for our weather - the material in top half of the bib is slightly thicker than that of other brands & the pocket for the race radio also adds an additional layer to the material. spinnekop recons that the handy vent at the back shows you buttcrack, but i can assure you (after some investigation in this matter) that all is safe.
  4. i think there was a previous thread about tyres. anyhow, there i said that i ride gp4000 and no problems. i must of jinxed it, because had to bin one a couple of days back for (you guessed it) cracking in the sidewall! these did not even have more than 1000km on them! have a pair of force / attack still boxed, but suspect that it is not a good idea to use them. got a pair of michelin pro2 race & will see how these go! the sidewall seems to be made of a different material than the conti & appears to be thicker. for the past year i have been on hutchinson, schwalbe, conti, bontrager & vittoria - all of them messed up with gaping holes or torn threads apart from the vittoria - you just have to look at them & they puncture! this is starting to get expensive!
  5. unfortunately i dont have the box (yet!), but have seen some ads in magazines on this one. just looking on the net now & it looks pretty good - price still high - $1,600 Dr. Seuss2006-10-12 01:59:45

"Malcolm Lange won the resulting sprint from Velits and Robert Hunter, who had spent a lot of time on the front to ensure that the break stayed clear. Results: 1st Malcolm Lange Microsoft 96km 2h18m 2nd Petr Velits Konica Minolta 3rd Robert Hunter Phonak "

  15. 30.6 sounds a bit fast for the C?s ? what distance did you do?<?:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /> what generally happens is that you will always get a couple of guys trying to turn the clubride into a race ? the result of this of course is that the group tries to keep up, but with a host of riders breaking off the back as the pace is too fast. it is also not a good idea for the group itself to change it?s speed through the year ? what about newcomers coming in? how will they know where to start? if you started in a group, but feel the pace being too slow, rather move to the back of the pack and help the slower guys up the hills & pace them on the flats back to the group. this way you will still get a good workout & you can start with the next level up group next time round. remember that every club member is responsible for each others safety and nobody should be left to finish on their own. i am also with the club and feel that the ride captains / marshals do an excellent job.
  16. you not doing the cresta ride on sunday?

  18. ok - so now after a window into your lives & a bit of something related to the topic we can assume that in the case of race office not updating your seeding you will start in a VERY low group - i am thinking ZZ here.
  19. race office?
  20. I know I have brought up this topic before, but it seems that the 94.7 works a bit different.<?:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /> If you enter licensed (assuming you do have a lic), do you automatically start with the VA / VB etc. or do they look at your seeding in conjunction with your lic & then decide if your seeding warrants a licensed start? (RACE OFFICE ? I STILL HAVE A 999 SEEDING!!!!)
