  1. I live in Totley Steet, that is the street that is just below the Sunward Park High School. They were in and out in a couple of minutes. Grabbed only the computers, televisions, and three of my six bikes. Johan Vermeulen
  2. On Friday afternoon 20/12/2013 between 14h30 and 18h00 my house was burgled and 3 bikes were stolen. Since the picture was taken two items have changed on the bike. I have changed the saddle and the handlebar stem was changed to a silver version to match the rest of the bike which is either silver or white. There were no pedals on the bike. The rear hub should actually be a 7 speed but an 8 speed was fitted - because it is all I had. Reward of R2500 if found.
  3. On Friday afternoon 20/12/2013 between 14h30 and 18h00 my house was burgled and 3 bikes were stolen. The bike is exactly as is in the picture. There were no pedals on the bike. Reward of R2500 if found.

  5. Who said that lightening does not strike twice on the same spot? Same results, weeks later.
  6. If 1 (GoPro) is good, then 2 is better.
  7. ONLY for the lovers of art. Now I know what Diego Velezquez's must have felt like when he painted Las Meninas.
  8. I actually run two cameras. One facing forward and one backward. Here is the picture from the back camera. The vendor's shadow is visible but, of course, it is not as impressive as the front view. Sometimes you get lucky. (For those wanting to know why I was not inside the yellow line, this should explain it.)
  9. This picture was taken from my GoPro Hero 3 camera while on my afternoon ride. It was only when I viewed the material that this impromptu self portrait became evident. Taken on the corner of Carnival Mall in Benoni.
  10. The TT, as Jackie Stewart said: "This is man territory."
  11. Quote 'Johan Bornman' the in the OP. 'Cyclists and motorcyclist instinctively know that to turn right, you lean right and left, you lean left. We don’t turn the handlebars, they somehow turn themselves, we just lean.' On a point of order. To turn RIGHT you first have to turn the handlebars to the LEFT (to break balance), before you can start to 'lean' into a corner. (It is impossible to make a bike turn to the right, assuming of course, that the bike is moving and you are balanced on the bike. by turning the handlebars to the right!) If you don't believe what I have said, go ask any motor cycle racer how hard they have to turn 'away' from the intended direction under braking and with sticky tyres to make the bike 'lean' into the corner. Alternatively just Google. LOL
  12. Start with a spell check.
  13. Sorry to revert back to road tandem. My wife and I had GREAT fun on a tandem. At first it did not go so well. After some chirping I stopped the bike and told her that I would now be the stoker and she could drive. We did not manage to move 2 metres. After that we knew our separate responsibilities. A 'moment' in my life was when we pulled the A-bunch down a hill in Springs. It reminded me of video material of the Tour de France where the riders are strung out in a long, thin line. When we got to the uphill and they passed us, all we got were 'Thanks' and 'Nice job'. Normally they would just have said: 'Tandem, get out of our group!' 1) You don't want to crash with a tandem - especially if you are from one household. 2) When you need some extra input from the stoker say so - with vision obscured they generally cannot see the uphill you just hit. 3) Sometimes you do not want the stoker to 'push' - say so by using a short command like: 'Easy!' It is fun on a tandem and I always felt so strong when I got back on a single bike. Johan
  14. Isn't Dangle a Scott bike entusiast? (LOL.)
  15. For what it is worth: EPO - Erythropoietin. Constituents of the word. 'Erythro-' A prefix meaning red and '-poietin' which is suffix meaning 'to stimulate growth'. Reason for edit: Font size
  16. The effect of banned substances - aggression and poor punctuation?
  17. My opinion is that if you can get it over the counter (even if it contains a banned substance - eg. Jack3D) the effect is minimal. The potent enhancement drugs are only available on script. Caveat: If you are involved in a sport where PED are banned - don't do it! And I hope that if you are not and want to 'test' PED's then do it UNDER MEDICAL SUPERVISION (ie Doctor).
  18. Even though I cycle regularly I have NOT participated in a race since the end of 2010. I am in a good physical condition and have regular checkups to see if there is anything glaringly wrong with my health. If I could find a Physician (read Medical Doctor) to supervise the process for me I would be on HGH, EPO, Deca Durabolin and Testosterone combination in a flash. In my humble opinion, of course, if taken in moderation there are definite health benefits to be had. Why? As you grow older RECOVERY becomes a big enemy. I enjoy a hard, physical workout whether that is cycling, karate or judo. A hard session generally equates to a day or two not training and just recovering. At 55 I have to put in twice the training to get half the results I did when I was 30. Caveat: In no way should my opinion be seen as condonation of illegal use of PED’s in sports. If you are young, fit and healthy, stay away from this. 'Don't do it, Dude.' Johan Vermeulen
  19. I am intimidated. Is my bike too plain?
  20. Sometimes it's not good to be POSITIVE!
  21. 'van men' like van der Merwe? I know the type - not always driving a van, though! Another kind is the Northern Suburbs Snob that stares blankly ahead while pushing you off the road.
  22. Robox, Thank you, your informed opinion is enlightening! Many miss the point.
