  3. You go for it
  4. Look Mux don't let ICycling talk you out of this with all the technical talk - the cardboard we can do & if you can get hold of the leftovers from Slowpoke's chocolate cake on Saturday, you've got yourself some very hard sponge. Voila, it's a piece of cake. p.s. I've got plenty of string for reinforcement if needed
  5. Hiya Mux Thanks for cheering me up - homemade cardboard and sponge wheels. Call me when when they're done I'll pay money to see it.
  6. That kind of rumour is a definite improvement for me - thanks HR, sorry MichH.
  7. No probs Had it coming.
  8. Exactly... just Thyolo's type... Spectacular insult, but anyway.... I cycled in France in 1981, and on Bastille Day in a small town on the Loire a butcher's daughter decided she liked me, we stayed there a week above the shop. Her parents must've been anti-english as the food got progressively more bizarre ending up some way beyond pigs trotters at some unidentifiable sausage - so we left. French accent does it for me.
  9. Population of 60 million - maybe there's someone there you might like?
  10. Maybe his bosses asked him if it was true and he said yes?
  11. The women Cervelo, you're forgetting the women.
  12. I think with the tour being in France they use a french lab? Leaks are a universal phenomenon (though the welsh seem particularly keen on them). The anti-fishing lobby have established that conkers, too, have feelings and are lobbying for legislation but until passed Delgado, Horse Chestnut abuse continues.

  16. Usually MichH - but you'll see from the Conker World Championship results below that the French appear to have a showing in this too: TEAM CHAMPIONS YEAR MEN?S TEAM CHAMPIONS LADIES? 17. Now I'm as anti-french as the next Englishman, it's kind of absorbed through the skin growing up - maybe SA can relate to that. But I know it's really a bit silly (except they do smell of garlic & speak funny - oops) & I can pack those feelings away when I need to. So why on the doping threads are there plenty of insinuations by Hubbers of bias against the french labs for non-french riders? A frenchman has not won the TDF since 1985 - I think they're used to it by now. Just like the english invented football, cricket, rugby and conkers; we're woeful in 3 out of the 4 but hardly try to swing things in our favour. The testing must be by the rules of the International Cycling body and if Hubbers can question the fairness then those closest to cycling will also have looked into this and be comfortable with the arrangements they have with the labs. Positive-tested riders cast about for all kinds of foolishness to muddy the waters and, for me, the anti-french thing falls into this category, and it's demeaning.
  18. So, unlike Clinton, his drugs defence is that he did inhale? Thyolo2007-07-25 03:52:38
  19. Like many of our sporting heroes I believe Millar spent little time in the UK and grew up in Malta and Hong Kong. A little more British than Zola Budd I s'pose.
  20. I guess Millar is an easy "go-to-man" for the media to get a reaction to this kind of story. He was planting trees at the time he was asked about Vino, not phoning journalists to give his opinion, he has to give a response and it's reported.
  21. I think it's ironic that the Discovery Channel don't cover the TDF. Though there was some good footage & commentary of mountain goats at the end of Sunday's stage.
  22. We knew before the tour that a lot of trust has gone from the sport so this thread is just reflecting that. To enjoy TDF you have to suspend disbelief and that's fine, maybe later you'll be proved right or wrong - but you can't enjoy it whilst doubting. This practice is v common and applies to: Horse racing Boxing Cricket ODIs Find the Lady Cinema Wrestlemania Dope or no dope the efforts we're seeing are heroic. Be interested to know how doping works - whether you have to build it over time or if there's a magic bullet or both.
