  1. Nice marketing Bonsai, to be popping this one back on the board at hourly intervals. Seeing the thread got me to book accommodation this morning & it seems that in town it's pretty full.
  2. Sure he can sue but proving it will be tough. In the Uk there's been a couple of cases of people going to court over bad tackles in rugby / soccer matches. I'd consider it if there was malice or gross stupidity from the other side, but on a bike in a race it would be very difficult to know exactly what had happened.
  3. H was on all morning being sweet and reasonable, now he's off and here's M (love the comment on the lourens calitz thread). It's ike a Jekyll and Hyde kind of deal.... ....or maybe a Hyde and Hyde kind of deal.

  5. Kyalami and Wesbank Raceway during the week. Suikerbosrand & I've always fancied going out to roadworks where they cone off kms of road and don't do anything with it. Always the risk of falling into the tar machine though.
  6. Why - are you on the jam and cakes stall at their fete?
  7. Hi Zaskar Polar service is the best. Not sure on a sensor but you shouldn't change the battery on a HRM yourself as it affects the waterproof seal taking the back off and, strictly speaking, their warranty becomes void. However, despite me doing just this and getting a condensation problem as a result, Polar still fixed the latter problem, and gave me some new insides as well - knowing the back had come off. If your LBS is a Polar dealer they'll run packages back and forth every week and you can use this. I drove to Polar and then got them to send the HRM back to Tony Impey where I picked it up. 8. Fun Rider - that seems very heartfelt. So, what was your Argus time?
  9. Cricket issues between Aus and Zim are political because of recent history. Zim cricket is obviously political to the point where they're better off playing rounders. Aus has been out of favour with the Zim regime since 2002 when McKinnon(?) headed up the commonwealth team overseeing the tragic elections of that year and reported them as unfair. Anything that happens against this back-drop becomes a political issue.
  10. I think we must learn the lessons from the last world cup and make sure we're going with a spinner for this one.
  11. Hi 1H Have pm'd you
  12. Sorry Hub - bit of a gratuitous post It is a very unsettled society we have that continues to throw up winners and losers in unexpected ways. I'm kinda resigned to sitting and watching as the forces at play are beyond me. Sometimes the comments and moves made by the politicians & other "talking heads" sound so funny, but I guess there's reasons for everyone to think the way they do.
  13. Hi 1H Alas nothing is simple. If your previous seeding was based on races like Bakwena, Fast One and Macsteel Carnival City and your new seeding is on 94.7, Argus and Amashova then a 10% improvement is amazingly good. If it's the other way round it's amazingly not so good. Hope this helps (but I know it doesn't).
  14. Western Cape Premier Ebrahim Rasool says he regards Western Province skipper Luke Watson as a "black player" and he should therefore be included in the Springbok team ahead of "white" players of equal talent. Just wondered....
  15. Really glad they've caught up so much. No Argus yet - but that doesn't help my seeding, so I'm happy to wait.
  16. Hi Mich Is N. Farms just for Mtbs or are there walking trails / kids' playground / stuff to do for non-cyclists (wife and 4yr old)?
  17. Hi Mich The guaranteed fun swings it. No meat, no eggs (unless in a well-done omelette) but will forage for own leaves and berries.
  18. Well, the brains trust has worked overtime on this one and I think we should summarise some of the valuable lessons our collective suffering has raised. Hubbers have great difficulty getting dressed and undressed and making drinks from powder; Multi-tasking by Hubbers leads to pain - e.g. time telling/coffee drinking or riding/anything else; We have hurt our nether regions by all manner of physical contact and by chemical substances and really ought to take more care of them; Tightening things we've loosened on the bike is always important in our quest to avoid sudden injury. Portable toilet etiquette is beyond us - live with it. We have found 3,459 ways to crash and feel there's potential for more personal expression and creativity in this area. So I reckon we're still a cool bunch and the picture that will stay with me longest is the guy swinging a wet, mouldy Camelbak around his head inside his house and what he'll say under questioning. 19. Hi Vittel BM is an intolerant motorist on a cycling forum - I suggest you shake him down for pins and marbles. Sorry you're seeing eejits when you're out - it's not so common and it sounds like you can handle it.
  20. Yep, that was a satisfying reaction. It's nice to know there are always some things you can rely on, thanks BigH.
  21. Is it true that the Kempekker-sponsored signs are made with more style and a certain continental flair compared to the dull functionality of the Shimano-sponsored signs?
  22. When using spoons to change your tyre, avoid using those from the set her parents gave you. However much you bend them back into shape, she will notice.
