  1. Peter Gabriel - Sledgehammer - Secret World Live
  2. great track! just read that their new album's gone to #1 on billboard. Funny....just read the same thing this morning. Their first time in 13 years. What was somewhat interesting was the fact that they made #1 with only 189 000 album sales in it's first week. Their previous #1 albums came with 'Vs' with 950 000 sales in '93, 'Vitalogy' with 877 000 sales in '94 and 'No Code' with 367 000 sales in '96. The article mentioned something about the music industry's downward spiral.
  3. Pearl Jam....Off He Goes....live from On Two Legs
  4. How is the backup for Ellsworth in SA...? I ask because from my browsing on other forums Ellsworth in the USA seems to consistently have the worst reputation for product support of any manufacturer I've heard of. To back that up to an extent, an aquaintance bought one new on which one tube was visibly misaligned. After months of haggling and being promised a replacement frame repeatedly, being told it will ship soon, being offered forks at reduced price to go with it etc etc, they suddenly turned around and told him to take a hike. Anyone with personal experience...?
  5. Just as a matter of interest....if you try hard enough you can still pinch a tubeless setup. Was bombing down a fireroad on the Harkerville Red Route....the particuler section runs steep downhill and straight and then flows into an off-camber left where I usually dab the brakes slightly and then use the righthand edge of the road as a berm. Except....between the ride in question and the one before the road had been graded and a pile of sharp rocks about a foot high was left in the middle of my 'berm'. Had nowhere to go so hit it at speed and ended up with two holes in the front Kenda Karma 2.2. Not a typical snakebite, but one hole where the tyre meets the rim and another where the tread starts exactly in line with the other hole. Had to stick a tube in it and patched one of the holes on the inside of the tyre when I got home. As an aside...I'm loving the Karmas. I was raving about the Specialized The Captains before and I do still love those, but these are my new favourite tyres. Compared to the Captains they have slightly more rolling resistence but offer slightly better traction, in a straight line and when cornering and damn right incredible performance in the wet. I don't think I'm any slower in the wet(unless it's really sopping and muddy) than I am in the dry with these.
  6. A few days later and I'm still stuck on The Veils....the Nux Vomica album....this really, truly is a phenomenal album....at least to me personally I'm not even going to suggest a specific track....just listen to the whole bloody thing
  7. What Thug said, but to add to it, most frames are still IS so unless you have one of the few that are Post Mount, your IS brakes should fit without an adapter. What sucks is that IS mounted brakes need to be shimmed(part of the included hardware Thug mentioned) which is just a bit trickier to setup than PM brakes. Also, with IS, if you go to a bigger rotor you'd need to change the caliper as they are AFAIK made size specific. At least that's the case with Magura IS brakes and older Hopes. Post Mount is generally better because of the ease of setup and the fact you can fit them to any frame/fork/rotor size with the correct adapter.
  8. Will you manage all....like 10km? There's a coffee stop halfway....should get me through
  9. Hoping to make it to my first CM....don't hold your breath though
  10. Had Juicy 7s since 2005 with one rebuild after more than 2 years. Just got a set of Elixer R from CRC because that was only slightly more expensive than getting mine back to 100% condition(new pads, full rebuild, new lever kits and new rotors) Juicy's gave no real hassles, except for the well-known vibration issues that many of these brakes suffered from after launch. My brother had the same problem with one of his Juicy 7 brakes and so does a friend currently running Juicy 5s. It was/is REALLY annoying. Elixers are really impressive, allthough it's hard to compare to my old Juicy's since they were/are shot. Got them lying in a box somewhere. As long as the Elixers stay smooth and don't start vibrating, and give the same reliability as I got from the Juicys, I'll be happy and recommend them.
  11. Listening to Ben Harper for the first time, the Diamonds On The Inside album, and was just about blown away by the opening track 'Amen Omen'
  12. The Veils - Under The Folding Branches
  13. Speaking of NIN, I'm loving 'Hurt' at the moment, except the Johnny Cash version....what a legend
  14. The Manic Street Preachers....the Everything Must Go album Enola/Alone Everything Must Go Kevin Carter A Design For Life The Girl Who Wanted To Be God etc etc etc Bloody brilliant!
  15. Tubes and tire liners...? You're carrying way too much excess baggage!
  16. Are you sure there's nothing? If I click on 'view orders' after logging in it shows all my orders but no tracking number....then I click 'view order' next to the latest order and I get this(the tracking number being the EE*********GB one): Order Status: Complete This order is complete and has been shipped Shipping Details for OrderID: ******* Order Item Status: Complete Shipping Method: Parcel Force International | Shipping Date: 26/08/2009 00:00:00 | Shipping Reference: EE*********GB Otherwise just email them and ask for the tracking number
  17. BLights....I was going to say, not much happens over a weekend, so give it another day. When mine arrived in JHB I phoned and was also told it's not yet in the country. It gets scanned when it arrives at the airport but that doen't mean it's been handed over to the post office MissionMan....go onto the post office site www.sapo.co.za and in the top right drop-down box select track and trace(or something like that)....in the pop-up window there's a tracking specific number you can phone. They're usually pretty quick.
  18. The strike has nothing to do with it. My package was sent on the 26 August and was in my mailbox in Hermanus(via JHB and CPT mail centres) by Wednesday 2 September....ie. 1 week As soon as it hit CPT I phoned the post office tracking number and they gave me the local tracking number after I gave them the Parcelfrce one. I find friendly requests to be more effective than angry email/calls.
  19. Mine are 5yrs in still running on the original bearings. I know of a gentleman who rides a lot more than me who has the original set of bearings after 10 years. Compared to normal hubs that would require new bearings every 6-18months, you would in the long run probably not save much, if at all, or make back the bigger initial investment since the annual rebuild(the cartridge bearings are fully servicable) is going to set you back over R500 in labour charges. Unless you're a DIY kinda guy and buy the hub service tool (about R1600) and do the servicing(a monkey could do it) yourself.
  20. Yip....sitting in front of my laptop at 1am working and 'Naive' is putting a smile on my face
