  1. Not when you've seen someone remove half the pad surface with a large screwdriver while trying to push back the pistons
  2. The brakes are self-adjusting, meaning that as the pad wears they adjust inwards to compensate for pad wear. They push up against the disc and they will always retract to leave the same distance between the pad surface and the disc, irrespective of wear. Remove the disc and they adjust until they meet each other. You can pry them apart, but be very carful as the pads are generally quite soft and you could damage them beyond use.
  3. Do yourself a favour and listen to this....best SA band in my humble opinion http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8RdbxfbsL9s
  4. So....I finally made it out to Eden this passed weekend. Had a f_ing BLAST! Plan to drag a few mates out there this Sunday. Anyone want to act as guide....always easier getting to know a new spot that way?
  5. Take me to your leader son... where is this Jaws..? In a land far far away
  6. Independent Fabrication www.ifbikes.com
  7. I like to imagine I'm Darren Berrecloth with Rob Zombie blasting my eardrums to pieces and my backwheel giving Amarider the maintenance work my membership pays for as I slide, spin, crash and rip my way down the trail!!!
  8. I own Juicy 7s....but I vote SLX. Juicy's have been discontinued and replaced with the new Elixir. Rather wait for the cheaper Elixirs to get here....I think they're also called 3, 5, 7 etc. There are still many people suffering from the dreaded Juicy vibration issues that have plagued the brakes since their introduction. I have tried everything imaginable and my brakes still vibrate every time I squeeze the lever. You might be one of the lucky ones and not have any issues.....or you might not! Plus, my girlfriend has SLX on her bike and they outperform my Juicy 7s by some margin. Better brake feel, better modulation, more power even though I run 7inch and she has 6inch rotors....and I'd bet they'll be cheaper too, no?
  9. I'm really like the new track by aKING....Against All Odds
  10. Ok....I know the pics are ***, but a few peeps asked to see my brother's new Niner, so here they are... He has been a devoted Cannondale rider for years but I have never seen him as giddy about a bike....he's loving it! Which is cool because before he sold his 3 Dales a few weeks ago he was saying how he is gatvol of training and training and training and just wants to start enjoying riding his bike again. Anyway....spec: Niner EMD9 size medium Rock Shox Reba SL Avid Elixir R brakes Sram X.0 Gripshifters Sram X.0 rear der Sram X.9 front der NukeProof Generator hubs Sun Ringle EQ23 rims Chris King headset Thomson stem and seatpost Truvativ Stylo GXP crank Fizik Tundra saddle KCNC handlebar and QRs Tyres are temporary. He got Conti Vapors from CRC for R150 a tyre while he waits for them to get stock of the RaceKings he wants. These ones are slightly retarded seeing as they're supposedly 2.2 but are seriously more like a 1.5....tiny little things
  11. Very nice....except for the ti one I saw in CPT a while ago, that's the prettiest On One I've seen
  12. The Reminder is even better and you also can't go wrong with her first album, Monarch
  13. Ryan Adams is an absolute legend. A friend of mine and fellow fan saw him in the UK last year. Well....he doesn't perform solo anymore, only as part of The Cardinals. They've been criticized for their lack of communication on stage, but Adams says they simply don't want to take anything from the music by letting their personalities interfere with it. My friend says they walked on stage and said "We are The Cardinals from the USA"....played a mind-blowing 2hr set without speaking at all and barely stopping between tracks, if at all and then finished off by saying "We are The Cardinals from the USA, good night" and walked off the stage I've been neglecting collecting music for a bit....need to check and see if they've released anymore stuff.....9 albums and counting
  14. Shearwater again.....La Dame Et La Licorne from the Palo Santo album....WOW!
  15. Yes....but not in a bad way
  16. After all the pics of 29ers that bike looks so weird with the small hoops
  17. I've been seriously impressed with the SLX kit. The whole groupset has been rated by many as one of the best value-for-money groupsets ever. Some of the engineering, like the internals on the shifters, are identical to XT. I think the only difference on the brakes is that the levers are not forged and the calipers are not one-piece like the XTs. But seriously, I'd have them any day. Superbe feel and modulation and they feel way better and more powerful than my old Avid Juicy 7s.
  18. Thug, I saw on of these on a bike in CPT a few days ago. http://www.whiteind.com/cranks/mountaincranks.html The most beautiful crankset I've ever seen! They are available from www.aspirevelotech.com. I have ordered from these guys before and their service is without doubt the best I have experienced from any online retailer.(ie. I messed up the order and they shipped out the correct items at no charge) The cranks are not listed on the site but I emailed them as my brother was interested and they said...."We do not currently have the White Industries VBC crankset in stock, but we can order it for you and have it ready to ship to you in about 2 weeks. The total price for the VBC crankset with double chainrings is $315.00 with free shipping to South Africaon>. Please let us know the crank length you need along with the chainring sizes(inner and outer) you need for your bike and we can get it ordered for you."
  19. Mmm....my Chris King bearings are now into their 5th year and I know someone personally who has 10yrs on the original bearings. The bearings are all fully servicable unlike normal cartridge bearings that AFAIK are not.
  20. ....and that leads into 'Nude'....haunting melodies and harmonies....damn I love their work!
