  1. Thank you, RobertWhitehead - very kind of you. Will pm you.
  2. I turned the whole contraption over to find a serial number, and discovered that I have a T2021. It claims to be 'Smart', but obviously not very . Oh well, at least the old TS4 still works. Thanks for the help, guys!
  3. Unfortunately I have found an answer, but not one that I like. Seems like I'm on the old Tacx software for now, as I'm not keen to buy an expensive new trainer.
  4. I do have an Ant+ dongle - the Tacx one, but that doesn't seem to do anything. RGT did see the Ant+ dongle, but nothing more - the info didn't transfer to RGT when I pedalled. So I went nowhere! I suspect that the trouble is on the actual trainer itself - I don't think it's talking to anything else, bluetooth or otherwise. So no luck so far. I'll try again tomorrow. Otherwise this Covid isolation thing is going to be extremely frustrating! Thanks for the help so far, guys!
  5. My current setup is a laptop, the Tacx Genius, and the old Tacx Trainer Software 4. It all works, but as Tacx have stopped supporting that software, I thought I'd finally move to the app. Tried the new desktop app on the same laptop: app can't 'see' my trainer. Tried the new desktop app on a different laptop: app can't see my trainer. Tried loading the Tacx Update Utility on my phone to see if I could update the trainer software: the app can't see my trainer. I can load the old app on an old tablet - and it can see my trainer, but I can't load the new app on the old tablet 'this app is not compatible with your device'. I am now making my way through all the bluetooth connectivity problem articles I can find!
  6. I am having trouble getting the Tacx app (as opposed to the old Tacx Trainer Software) to 'find' my trainer. The Tacx Utility app can also not find the trainer. I started by trying the RGT Cycling app - that couldn't find my trainer, so I thought that the Tacx app might. No luck so far. Is my old trainer incompatible? Has anyone managed to link their Tacx Genius to the new app?
  7. Day permits are allowed to ride the D'Aria loop, but at the end of the dam, they need to turn back towards Bloemendal, and not towards the Protea Hotel. That's where the day permit ends. There is a sign at that point, at the wooden bridge, that this section, towards the Protea Hotel, is for members only.
  8. Where did you buy this saddle, please M Hickley?
  9. I used this link: https://www.capetowncycletour.com/lifecycle-week/mtb-challenge/ and entered for a friend this morning.
  10. I have the same Epic Evo - different colour.
  11. I think this is better than Ed Sheeran's own version:
  12. Not sure if this has been posted yet, but I love this cover version!
  13. They added the snakes to make the trails more challenging for those who complain that they're too easy.
  14. Are there any Hub spouses/families hanging around Montagu while this race is on, possibly keen to do a bike ride or a hike? I'm keen to try, but not alone. (I'm slow and social rider/hiker!)
  15. Yesterday morning - Hillcrest trails.

  17. It seemed to work; had no issues. Actually, the one behind-the-saddle bag did have some issues - it rubbed on the tyre when the suspension kicked in; Hans had to truss it up like a turkey to keep it away from the tyre. The other behind-the-saddle bag had an internal metal frame that seemed to prevent this.
  18. Give it a go - it really is worth it! PS. Non-legends can manage it too! I did.
  19. We found the racks worked very well. Very stable. Nigel lost one small clip that clips the bag onto the rack (you need to check that they are tight every now and again), so he had to add a strap around the bag to hold it to the rack, but other than that - absolutely no problems with the racks and panniers.
  20. When we let the family know that we planned to spend three months in Australia to visit them, my brother-in-law sent us an email – ‘something to do while you’re here’ he said, and added a link to a bike trail in Western Australia. Bikepacking has been on our ‘to do’ list for a while, so we thought – right: we’ll give it a go. Of course, being typically South African, we didn’t do a two or three-day trip to try things out, we went straight to the 20-day, 1000km trip. Deep end and all. We even persuaded our friend Hans, an ex-South African now living in Australia, to join us. Click here to view the article
  21. Currently bike-packing the Munda Biddi Trail in Western Australia. 1000km, mostly off-road track or trail, or on gravel roads through state forest. Planning on taking around 21 days, from Perth to Albany.

  24. Event Name: Ride For Joe When: 14 April 2018 Where: Contermanskloof MTB Trails, Western Cape Category: MTB It’s not a race, it’s a celebration of being ABLE to ride your bike. Ride the Contermanskloof trails, appreciate your good health AND do a good deed for a fellow Hubber on Saturday 14 April. Fellow Hubber Joe spent many happy hours on his bike until he took a fall last September and sustained serious spinal injuries. We are holding a fun mtb event at Contermanskloof to raise money to help Joe with the costs of ongoing rehabilitation and therapy. We know that you can ride these trails at any time, free if you’re a TMBC member, but you’re not really paying for a ride, you’re making a donation to Joe, and getting to ride your bike at the same time – bonus! Ride your bike, enjoy the scenery. Better yet, ride with your wife and kids – there are 4 routes to choose from, to suit the whole family. In the meantime, save the date, enter the event, and celebrate the fact that you’re healthy enough to ride your bike! http://cycleforlife.co.za/joe/ Go to Event Page
