  1. ^ wrong forum. Should have turned her into a bike
  2. No one said you were not allowed to be offended. All we said was your feeling of offence does not and should not prevent the rest of us from sharing things that we find funny or opinions. Your point (and correct me if I'm wrong here) is that no one should be allowed to post something that offends you? What about if it offends someone else? How can you guarantee that anything that is posted will not offend anyone?
  3. Luckily being an arsehole is not illegal (nor should it be)
  4. Can confirm that this is not fun
  5. If you can fit in one or two 30min swims a week you can easily get fit enough to do a sprint triathlon (750m swim, 20km bike and 5km run) without compromising the cycling training (I've managed this over the last few months). Also, if you're not comfortable with swimming in open water, a sprint is probably a good place to start. There is one at Sun City on the 6th of May (with a very short swim of 600m) and one at Cradle Moon on 20 May if you want to hop in immediately. I would suggest hiring a wetsuit and swimming in it once or twice before your first triathlon because by mid May the water will be freezing. Btw, I also suck at running and swimming. Only started running and swimming this year (the last time I swam properly before this was 20 years ago). And I managed to survive my first triathlon and did much better at my second (both in the last 3 weeks) coming off effectively a cycling only fitness base.
  6. I wasn't suggesting it for small amounts. I've just ordered a bike that was fairly expensive and I don't want to be exposed to exchange rate fluctuations on that amount of money between now and when they actually charge me for it in July/August so I was looking for an easy way to hedge that and that account is what I found. I agree that the transfer fees are way too high for it to be used as a savings account with "small" monthly deposits.
  7. If you bank with Investec you can get a free USD call deposit account (onshore account denominated in USD) and you can just transfer the cash monies into it. Costs ZAR175 to put the cash in and another US$13 to transfer the cash out again at the end. Just done this for my bike. Takes a few days to transfer either way with exchange control and all that but otherwise hassle-free. Can do the whole thing online. Edit: the account is also offered in EUR and GBP.
  8. I got quoted and charged in US $. No option for ZAR that I could find.
  9. Ultimate CF SLX Disc 8.0 Di2 in Gran Turismo Blue
  10. So after being unable to find a good reason not to (and many good reasons to) buy the bike, I finally pulled the trigger this morning Now to find a way to suffer through the months of waiting until it arrives (estimated delivery date is only in August)
  11. So I know this probably isn't the best place to ask this but I didn't want to start a new topic. I've just started triathlons (did my first sprint one 10 days ago) and I'm struggling with the swimming (spent a lot of time doing backstroke to avoid drowning type struggling) so I have decided that I need some coaching. Can anyone recommend a coach in the Sandton area?
  12. 6 events on the day: Road duathlon MTB duathlon Olympic Road triathlon Sprint triathlon MTB triathlon Short MTB triathlon Pick the one you want to do. I did the one this last Sunday and it was a lot of fun (apart from the fact that I felt like drowning for the entire swim)
  13. I'm single so that reason is out unfortunately.
  14. I'm trying really, really hard to convince myself not to pull the trigger on a Ultimate CF SLX Disc 8.0 Di2 in Gran Turismo Blue... Reasons for trying to stop myself: Current bike is only 9 months oldCurrent bike has only done about 4,000km+- R82kPlease help me to find more reasons...
  15. VAT factor is 1.165 not 1.164. Not that it makes a lot of difference.
  16. Depends on how you ride and what sort of workout you are doing. If you are doing a power based workout then no, you probably won't spin out (in fact I just leave it in the same gear for the entire workout and focus on keeping my cadence around 90 or so and it adjusts the resistance so that you are putting out the target power). If you are simulating an actual ride then on the "downhills" you will spin out just as much as if you were riding the actual route.
  17. Did a 2:53 from CL. The legs were an absolute shambles after the MTB race the day before so every group I was in dropped me on anything even vaguely resembling an uphill. Burned all my matches on Saturday getting through the thick mud on the MTB route. But at least I didn;t do a 3:00:02 again like last year Bike after the MTB race:
  18. CL with an ASG seeding of 29. Haven't seen anything about the MTB race yet.
  19. That sounds uncomfortable. Is it easier to wash skidmarks out of baggies?
  20. This is exactly how I felt until I tried bibs. Now I'm a complete convert. Pretty much only use the shorts I still have on the IDT. Bibs for all "proper" rides.
  21. If it had been cancelled I would have been disappointed (would have been the second time I'd tried and failed to do the race) but the trip would still have been worth it to watch the MTB world cup on Saturday and see some friends who stay down there.
  22. Or it will just decrease the group riding skills in other races
  23. EXACTLY!!!
  24. I've entered again because this race and I have some unfinished business after I did a 3:00:02 last year... I just couldn't stick with the group after doing the MTB race the day before so this year I'm doing the MTB race again
