  1. I am looking to build current HT parts over on dualie. I'm reasonably convinced that I am going to go for a Anthem X 29 frameset, having listened to some people and read some reviews, etc. Don't think there's much else that can match up or are available in framesets. Spez, Rocky, etc all seem to have a top-of-the-line-carbon-framset as their only frameset option. Other options are Momsen DL and I presume Scott will be an option as well. Much as I'd love one, I am pretty sure Dale frames will be a bit steep and then you'll very likely feel obliged to add a lefty as well. Aware of Booth and BSR, but... not entirely comfortable with what may be backup/support/warrantee issues should it be required. Did I miss an option you guys are aware of? (Unfortunately SC is not quite an option... ) Have I missed something important? Should I look harder at something like Scott? Opinions?
  2. Hi there, I am interested in getting a MTB (I am a beginner). I was looking at the Scott Aspect 940 & was quoted R6500. Also I happened to find a Scott Scale 70 (2011) in a pawn shop selling for R7000. It seems in an ok condition - a couple of scratches & the tyres will probably need to be changed in a few months - the previous owner definitely used it & it was not just sitting around in his garage. What would be a better deal? What should I be looking out for on a second hand bike? Any comments would be appreciated. Thanks G

  4. Hey, I'm looking to upgrade and I am considering a Scott Spark 950 (XL, 2013) or Ghost AMR 2955 (XL, 2013) for R19,000. According to the sales guy the Ghost is on special and normally retails for around 25k and has better components (Based on a quick Google this seems accurate)? I am not the most knowledgeable when it comes down to comparing components and brands, any advice? Thanks in advance.
  5. Hi, How do I know whether the tyres I have can be converted to tubeless? I currently have Racing Rons which come standard on the Scott Spark 940 & I want to convert to tubeless. If I do need to buy new tyres what are the suggestions/favourites? Thanks,

  7. Hi Guys, Input on the following please : Cannondale CAAD4 9sp Ultegra Mavic Wheelset VS Scott Speedster S4 Tiagra Alex Rims Both in fairly good condition. These options for a heavier rider such as myself now at 112kg?? I may be wrong but I am looking at two considerations: 1. COMFORT 2. DURABILITY Comments/input appreciated. The idea is to build up my weekly mileage and for base training, as well as a few odd "races" amashova maybe even Argus.
  8. Hi all I have an option on a 26er Scott Scale full carbon with XTR. Obviously a second hand bike I offered R4500 is it fair? What other info do you guys need ? Thanks in advance !

  10. I'm having problems mounting Maxxis tyres on the Syncros wheels I got with my scott scale. Rims were converted to tubeless and I'm using Maxxi icons. I've used maxxis before with no problem, so I'm assuming these rims are not the best.?? Wondering if someone have had the same problem

  14. Nothing is certain in mountain bike racing. But the remarkable consistency of Switzerland’s Nino Schurter strongly challenges that well-worn statement. The 27-year-old Swiss successfully defended his Elite men’s Cross-country (XCO) world title when he powered to a clinical victory on a technical course in Pietermaritzburg, South Africa on Saturday. 15. Hi Guys I need some help deciding between these two bikes. I can get both the bikes for about R 12000. Both bikes are pretty similarly specced with the only major difference being the frames. The geometry of the scale is said to be more raced focused with the geometry of the aspect more focused on entry level riders.(Please correct me if this is incorrect) This is my first mountain bike but I do not want to buy something that I will quickly outgrow. I am having trouble deciding between the two because of the geometry and associated rider comfort levels. I do not want to buy the scale and then regret it, due to the discomfort caused by the more race focused geometry. So I am thinking maybe I should go for the Aspect instead? What do you guys think? Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks! Links to specs: Scale: http://www.scott-spo...ke-scale-960-s/ Aspect: http://www.scott-spo...e-aspect-910-l/

  21. Hi All Has anyone converted their scott spark 10 26 er to 27,5 inch? Any problems experienced? Is it just a matter of changing wheels, or do I need to make more modifications? I have the standard fox front suspension. Any clearance issues? Thanks for the feedback!
  22. I'm trying to choose between the Scott Spark 940 and the GT Sensor 9R Pro. Scott: http://www.scott-sports.com/global/en/products/227690007/bike-spark-940-m/ GT: http://www.gtbicycles.co.za/2013/bikes/mtb/dual-suspension/Sensor_9R_Pro/ I can get them both for the same price. I like the Scott for the handlebar lockout, but I think the GT has the better specs. Any advice/experience with either bikes?

  24. Hello to all the clever and 'clever' people on the Hub ... I am looking at upgrading my MTB (Currently riding a hardtail Alu 2naaier - 2012 Titan Comp, Suntour front shock, entry Shimano groupset etc etc). I am looking to spend around R20k and was wondering if I should look at carbon vs Alu frames or rather ensure I have the best front shock and groupset etc? I must say I rode a mate of mines Scott Scale Pro Carbon 29er last week and it felt like I had a turbo attached... Basically my question is does the frame make 'that big of a difference'?
