I was using one of the expensive recovery shakes and had no issues believed it worked well with reocvery , then I read in the Bicycling mag that Dr Jeroen De Swart said that low fat milk would do the same.

I have been using that for the last couple of months now and it seems to work just fine for recovery, I suppose you could always add some Chocloate flavour to get the taste but I was wondering if there are more of you out there that just use the low fat milk option.

Found that the Pure Whey protein powder also did not agree with me, glad I am off that now,

Guess just stick to healthy eating and you should not really need supplements???

Personally I think this is an old wive's tail. How much glutamine is in a steri-stumpie? Are you telling me there are 0 benefits to taking glutamine for recovery, along with multi-vitamins, 10% protein and branch chain amino acids? When you can prove to me that these do nothing for me then I will stop buying recovery drinks. Cadence Revive is my drink of choice at the moment and I suspect that either Swart or Noakes had a hand in designing it, so one of them is definitely not convinced of the milo-is-best nonsense.

An ice cold chocolate flavour Evox Synergy Whey mixed with skimmed milk is my drink of choice after a race (or hard training session)! I can immediately feel the benefits of the post race recovery drink, and the calcium of the milk helps to quench the thirst.

You've got things backwards here. I shouldn't have to prove they don't work. The supplement makers have to prove that they do (in the concentrations, form and mix that they provide). Not many suplpement makers have done this. There are studies that show that milk's overall effect on recovery is similar to that of commercial products.

Very overlooked this wonderful stuff and also helps the immune system, and then of course the best recovery is rest.

The other important recovery factor is during training, active recovery.

I am so gatvol of seeing people train and race all at the same pace.

But ja-well-no-fine, the problem is theirs because burnout hurts more than a pitbull's attack with rabies.

Yes, I mix Cadence Revive with low fat milk - I swear I can feel that stuff working about a half an hour later.

This begs the question, if I can find it in chocolate flavour will the benefits be exponentially greater?

haha, true Dangle rest is best. I've searched high and low but nobody seems to sell it in tablet form. Being overtrained really sucks. I can feel it coming on at the moment.

Milk for me too. What I noticed is that a good massage immediately after the race does wonders. No more sore legs on Monday mornings. I am also of the opinion that most supplements are overkills, especially for us amateurs. After all, someone out there is making a good buck out of us sportsman. Rather spend the extra buck on good quality food.
