RaeTrewBrowne Posted March 10, 2011 Posted March 10, 2011 a wetsuit is relative in my opinion, at last years SA Triathlon Champs in Germiston I broke my PB for the 1.5k swim by just under 2 minutes without a wetsuit (plus i was faster through T1 ) for full IM distance yes the benefits of a wetsuit will far outweigh not having one but i think anything under 2km's what you might save on the swim you will make up in T1!
Face Plant Posted March 10, 2011 Posted March 10, 2011 nochain i agree that the difference might be bigger for the average swimmer but i think that good technique is going to improve your swim time alot more than a wetsuit, what im trying to say is it doesnt help to wear a wetsuit and you still doing a 600 in 16+ minutes, or let me put it this way if you are swimming a 600 in 15+minutes a wetsuit is not going to get you do do it in -13minutes but a good swim technique will! so instead of spending a couple of grand on a wetsuit rather go for a couple of lessons from a swim coach!

Raab Posted March 11, 2011 Posted March 11, 2011 As a complete newb, I still vote no. Reason being that I know I am a bad swimmer but this encourages me to work really hard on it. Also the reason I am still to attempt my first tri, need to get better at swimming first.
MariusL Posted March 11, 2011 Posted March 11, 2011 If we say no to wetsuits, then we might as well say no to aero wheels and TT bars... and we should also all run barefoot...
khalid Posted June 20, 2011 Posted June 20, 2011 also got mine last week have you noticed that the Asics logo glows in the dark created quite a buzz on the club runs Where is the best price for these shoes in Cape Town. Been looking but struggling to find a retailer.

slowlady Posted July 2, 2011 Posted July 2, 2011 Question: How many people that voted yes own a wetsuit and voted no don't?My guess is that the lucky ones that own one mostly voted yes and people like me that don't own a wetsuit would probably not want it to be legalised.

DawieO Posted July 3, 2011 Posted July 3, 2011 "There is a Ironman distance race in Cape Town later this year.....i want to see how many people that voted NO do that without a wetsuit."Â The survey asks whether they should be legalised for ALL races, not whether they should be BANNED for all races.
