Single speed projects

One of these will do the "Trick" it's an eccentric BB for BSA BB's (I think I posted this before somewhere?):

"Trickstuff wouldn’t be Trickstuff without such highlights as the Exzentriker. This is the first and worldwide unique eccentric bottom bracket that can be mounted in normal BSA bottom bracket housings and will accept any conventional 24 millimeter bottom bracket spindle (e.g. Shimano Hollowtech II and many others). It allows infinite chain adjustment for single-speed bikes or gear hub bikes (e.g. Rohloff) and dispenses with chain tighteners or adjustable drop outs."

Any chance you are planning to add these to your range of amazing products?

P.s. are you selling me that frame yet? :-)

Hi Bobbo,

Something like this would be very cool. I have a Beer Racing eccentric BB for BB30 which works well but this is threaded so in theory no creaking, ever.

The Trick Stuff one is around R3,250 which is quite a bit! It would be great to make something like this though...

I was out on 'that' frame this morning, still love that bike!

what is the price on the racing eccentric BB? I looked at the silverback frame and it is threaded ..so still not sure what type of BB it is.

Hi Slowbee,

The Beer Racing Eccentric BB is for either BB30 or PF30 BBs (press fit BBs with no thread). They are USD $160 each.

Their website is here: https://shop.beercomponents.com/ Problem solvers also make the same sort of thing.

If you have a threaded BB (BSA) the only one I could think of off the top of my head is the Trick Stuff one which is around R3250.

Nice tumble. No sticker bombing please.

This one is staying "pure".

I am actually in two minds about what to do about the decals. I can get, but I almost feel like leaving the frame clear apart from the head tube badge that dates the bike. What do you think?

Keep it as original as possible. Leave the decals and everything as is. That's a damn sick ride you've aquired. Do you know the history of this whip?

I agree with Small Fry, leave the frame as is, then find some nice hoops to lace to those Campy hubs, and find the rest of the period correct bits and pieces!

Ja, that's how I am leaning, but I am itching to ride it! Have got some wheels I will pop on for now just to ride in the meantime. I was given a set of Fiamme rims. Haven't heard much about them before. And there's a set of F.I.R. rims at home somewhere too. I was supposed to go with my mate to see Ron Thompson this week, but we didn't get around to it...he might have...I will check tomorrow when I get the seatpost.

As far as the provenance of the bike goes, only done a cursory bit of research. If my reading's right, it's no older than 1965 and no younger than 1968. Will delve further, but some Cinelli experts seem to think tracking a bike via its serial number is pointless.

Grumpy thinks the hubs are older, but I wonder if that's wishful. Will, like with the frame, delve a bit deeper. The crank looks a lot "younger" too.
