Carbon is much stronger than aluminium/steel for given weight when stressed in the correct way (i.e. not in an impact of a crash).

and bamboo is even stronger than that according to the boffins...

now if they could just make it sexy!

i read that carbon forks, seat posts absorb vibrations better and is more comfortable

any comments

That is correct!!

I upgraded from a Alum Scott with a Alloy fork to a full carbon frame (Seatpost, fork, frame) and what a huge difference in vibration...shoulder used t get numb, not anymore...actually feels like a dream cycling on the R44 now with the rough road....So i believe it made a HUGE difference!

Comfort is too dependent on things like tyre pressure and bike geometry and setup to make generalised statements like "carbon is more comfortable than steel/alu etc." At best you can say that a certain carbon frame with a specific set of components is better than a different alu/steel frame with other components.

changed my hardtails seatpost to specialized pave carbon seatpost with a little rubber insert at the top.

made a massive difference in how my kidneys feel after a long ride.

handlebar also made a noticeable difference.

i have 2 hardtails with 100% same setup.

only differences are the carbon seatpost and handlebar.

my bike without these bits ride bloody hard.

(same tires on both bikes, same geometry etc).

There is a bamboo MBT in Johan Bornman's workshop. Not a Calfee but it's still bamboo.

Hey!!!!

I just realized that as well. My hands did not go numb, no shoulder pain or anything on the Argus. On my alu bike 50 km felt like a trip through a concrete mixer. My hand would be numb, shoulderblades would ache.

Plus, I felt a distinctly better response to any pedal input

Man those are sexy!

Reminds me of a Shoe Chain in Sydney who have unusual bikes hanging in their shops.

They had bamboo bikes, as well as a cruiser with a folded ply frame. Will have to dig some pixels and post that one!

I would also give my left *** for one of them MTB's
