So who made a sub 3 in the 2011 Cape Argus? If my Garmin is correct, I came in from E group just in time to beat the clock for a sub 3. Will have to wait for official Racetec results to confirm my joy!

You were with the top guys of the E-bunch?

I came from L-group and I think I just made it or just missed it (how do they take your group exact start time?! When the first rider crosses the mats?)

Came 2nd in my group.

When does results usually come in?

were you one of those machines which came past us D bunch guys up Chappies. Those E leaders made chappies look flat. My race was spoiled by some old fart hitting my front wheel with his pedal as he walked past and damaging my timing chip holder in the starting shoot , I didn't notice because I was more worried about damage to my wheel and guess what I lost it on the route somewhere so my 3:02 PB means nothing.

Your time is calculated from where you cross the blue mat at the start, until you cross the mat at the finish. Results will take some time to be up, hopefully tomorrow!

I think that's weird. This means that if a guy rolls 30sec behind me over the mats at start and he comes 10th in the bunch sprint at the finishline he still wins the group....

Doesn't make sense.

Time starts when your bunch starts, all the same for everybody in the bunch. NOT when you cross the start mat, that is just there to prove you did actually start.

Finishes when you personally cross the finish mat.

Start times are recorded as they happen then plugged into the system when the race is done. It's also how they figure out what group you're in vs what group you're meant to be in

So do you guys think this route is quicker or slower than the normal route? My training partner did his first argus this morning and clocked a 2h38m. So something tells me this route might be a bit quicker

I finally got it! Was at the top of suikerbossie with very little time to spare and paced as hard as I could all the way down and through Camps Bay. Finished in a time of about 2:57 - 2:58. Boyes drive definitely made the race harder!

Ok, so the moment the guy counts down to is the exact start time of the group?

That doesnt make sense what about guys starting in lower groups they were supposed to?
