waanie Posted March 17, 2011 Posted March 17, 2011 This is how they do it.I know some guys that use to do this never in our training rides they could beat me.They would ride a qualifyer like the knysna tour in the past what they do thats the time the route went via sedgefield would stop along the route csoss the road wait for the return bunch and jump in.So you see when it comes to the argus they getting good seeded numbers.the nicers part of all this i still beat them with more than 30min in the argus.With the last knysnatour that went through plett i saw guys taking lifts in combies.the organisers should make these ride in a loop
Ceres Posted March 17, 2011 Posted March 17, 2011 I'm with Spat here. We are so used to the government stealing all the money, the cops taking bribes top cyclist taking dope and so on and so on . So when somebody "cheats" (guilty unless proven innocent) in a cycle race nobody gets upset.... everyone says oh he's only cheating himself and so on and so forth. I say bull***** what are we teaching our children if everyone said that. Its ok son you cheat and do well but remember you only cheating yourself. Preparing to be shot down.

As frustrating as it is sometimes, especially when someone doesn't have one, you can't be their conscience! The biggest plus is knowing you only have to deal with them, to the amount you allow them in your life. They live themselves 24\7 and can only pretend it doesn't bother them.
david16v Posted March 17, 2011 Posted March 17, 2011 All the other hubbers should not be getting cross with Spat as I heard of a couple of people giving their chips to faster riders on the Argus Qualifying rides!! They then ended up in or around group H instead of group X! This ain`t fun!!Obviously this guy would get dropped but he then becomes a mobile chicane for the faster riders and could cause a huge crash!

Slowone Posted March 17, 2011 Posted March 17, 2011 I agree the system is flawed.........I know someone that got a QQ start and he only started cycling Jan 2011 ........ so no seeding ride and my son who attempted the Burger (cramped at 70km) got a start in the PPA groups............ so maybe we must all get a friend in the seeding office and get seeded in the A and B groups ........ will make the racing interesting....... But who cares where they start as long as they give way for the better rides that got seeded lower ..........
Guest Bpayne Posted March 17, 2011 Posted March 17, 2011 Hi I know of someone who was way behind in the racing season leading up to this years Argus, so when I heard he had a D start I was very curious to see his times on racetec, see below, I want to know how this guys managed to get a D start with these times? I have emailed the cycletour website to ask them as well, nothing but automated response. He woudl not even have made the J group start never mind all the way up to D Excuse the cut and pastes. Removing the times as my intention was not to attack this rider, more to confirm that the seeding process is open to Favours. Are you ******* serious with this post? Do you know the guy in the Borat kit started in "E" now what? You sending another mail to PPA? Get a life and who says that this person in D didnt have a life threatening illness or simliar and then came back to ride the Argus cause of his previous seeding but had no fitness so he struggled? Splat, deal with it my man, sometimes, someone one, has something better than you and really its ONLY THE ARGUS not the World Champs....oh wait it is to hackers like you. If someone of the Invitainal riders did 3hrs + are you also going to run to PPA like a granny with a wet panty? Is your life so hollow??

What I'm trying to get across if everyone "has the who cares attitude" imagine what people will try and get away with. If Spat did not bring this point to everyones attention then alot of peoples attitude could be well if he can do it why cant I? Nobody cares that I cheat. Nobody wants this to become the norm do they.

Absolutely.Especially if the rider in question has been one of the back markers at fun rides! You guys are giving Spat such a hard time for quite rightly questioning something that shouldnt be happening! If you dont have anything nice to say to him then keep it to yourself! Some of you fortunate guys are just so gifted that you get great times just by looking at the pedals, but for the rest of us plebs, good times and good seedings is the pay off of years of moving up in the ladder and hard training.So when someone shortcircuts that ladder and when they are clearly not up to scratch it pisses me off. It is a different story alltogether for an elite who has had some manual intervention because he is new to the system and when he is able to perform at the level. Yes, I know this is only the argus and he probably was the only loser in the equation.But it still makes you angry that some people can just somehow skelm their way into what they want.
