Fact or Friction? ;)

Can graphite balls and special oil (snake skin oil??) make you go faster?

Local Swiss newspaper 20minutes.ch reporting today that a Belgian newspaper La Derniere Heure reported that Cancellera has been using special cranks over the last 4 years with graphite ball bearings and a “special oil”, which supposedly could give him a time saving of up to 2.5 seconds per kilometre.

Apprently Andy Scleck also used them in the mountain stages during last years TDF

Swiss, I would not want to believe that Fabian had a motor in driving the crank, BUT.. I had a look at the video with the link you posted. If you accelerate then you cadence has to go up (spinning) or down when shifting to a smaller gear, If you count the rpm on his leg, you will see that the cadence stay the same but he accelerates like a jet,

Some of the articles 'accuse' Fabian of using these bearings.

As if its unfair or illegal.

Just carrying on from the silly motor accusations?
