Best chain lubricant?

Road bike! It repels water very well by creating a Teflon film but it does like dirt so i don't think I would use it on my MTB.

I've used White Lightning for years now. Excellent dirt repelling lube, dries quick and last a long time.

those chains that have a special link to remove the chain like shimano then i soak the chain in white lightning. But with campy u cant do that. U have to use one of those tools to remove chain.

Not quite sure that you wrote what you meant to say.  Shimano does not have an easy remove option.  You need a chaintool to remove the chain which is a pain in the arse.  You can do the same with Campy chains but you need to replace the pin.  Best options for any chain is a quick link from Wipperman, SRAM, KNC, and all chains are removeable with a simple bend and twist.

After reading the reviews on Mtbr.com I got hold of Pro Gold ProLink chain lube.

Where did you buy Prolink from?  I've never seen it in SA.

I recently switched to Rock 'n Roll lube - quite happy with it. Will I try a different product once the bottle is finished? Most likely - I still have a LOT of products to try before I can decide for myself which one is best.

On the above note, I picked up some SRAM PowerLock links the otherday (not Powerlink). Only when I read the destructions did I see they seem to be for single use only i.e. once joined you cannot separate them. Anyone used them?

IanJ - myself and LB are using them, LB did 'seperate' a chain with them (not easy but can be done!) and put it back together to replace some cranks and stuff. Not sure though if it will take multiple removals. Using them mostly as a 'stop gap' should a chain break on the ride (happened once, luckily carry one with us) and a lot easier than pinning it when doing a new build or changing something.

Also used Rock n Roll and it works well.  They have different types for different conditions

Can't see why you would want such a thing.  May as well just use the normal chain links?  Must say that the SRAM powerlinks are probably the worst of the bunch.  I much prefer the KNC and Wipperman Connex links.
