Which lube you use all depends on whether you're riding a 26'er or a 29'er :D

I suppose it may even depend on whether you ride with lycra shorts or baggy shorts :D

tsk tsk, normal lube doesnt work on a 29'er, they use snakeoil, didn't you know that, that's why they are so fast. Please see formula below for reference

Just stay away from White Lightning - if one tiny little bit of water comes near your chain, it will squeak like old Aunty Winifreds 70 year old wheel chair

demmit how did you solve it that quick....I am still stuck on Pi squared over 29'er wheel part

I think I made a mistake while intergrating with respect to x. Q was never part of the formula. At least it didnt end up being WD40 or I would be in ***. :D

For mountain-biking I find Rock and Roll Blue and Purple extreme to both be very good. Used to use squirt but it doesnt last very long in the mud, and can cause some buildup on the cassette, chainrings and derailleur pulleys which can lead to poorer shifting performance.

One important thing with the 2 products I mentioned is that you need to apply the lube say 30mins or so before you ride. Spin the pedals a bit while shifting to get the lube to penetrate inside the chain rollers. After the 30 mins wipe the chain really clean with an old rag. The lube will still be present between the pins and rollers and now you have a clean chain which won't attract dust / mud as easily.

I use white Lightning on both the road and MTB- have done so for years - even in super muddy and sludgy stuff in the UK. Use the Epic version for a good all round one.

No Squeeky Squeeky but maybe thats cause I'm a little rententive and wash my bike pretty much everytime it goes out ! :)

+1 I do a 4 step process

Step 1: Take cain off and clean it in a Coke bottle with benzene clean cassette RD FD and chain rings with clean green, Rinse and dry chain

Step 2: Run chain through chanin cleaner with clean green in it

Step 3: Dry chain and lube every second roller with White lighting wet ride rotate cranks sevral times, wipe off excess lube with soft dry cloth

Step 4: Apply Boeshield T9 while rotating cranks- rotate cranks- allow to dry for 4 hours- wipe off excess

Works like a charm, chain runs in all conditions and stays clean for 2 or 3 long rides.

Ummm - you do know that benzene is carcinogenic? It's banned in the EU...
