Burry, kevin and david george will be able to beat most of us here on the hub while riding their mtb's, they are elite riders afterall.

Did you see the video of Andy schleck and Burry taking turns on the road and mtb bikes, if i remember Andy beat him on both

If i remember, Burry won that little race, Andy was slightly quicker on the road but Burry killed him on the MTB.

Who did they beat ......

Ony name I recognise is Sean Merredew....only because he managed the LBS in Rbay and gave me a lot of good advice. He is good though, did feature once or twice in local racing. All-round good bloke though, but I know he spends his time racing the big five mtb series in KZN

Well everyone know that what the winner uses is clearly the fastest equipment. So are the roadies going to now argue whether knoblies and 29er mountain bikes are fastest for road races.

Isn't this episode mentioned in Shakespeare's Julius Caesar where Mark Anthony says, "We have come to Burry Sauser, not to praise him?"

Might be a valid point when the whole TdF pro peloton heads out on 29'ers....

Most roadies do not ride mtb, but most top mtb riders train on the road as well.....just saying :whistling:

He was on slicks and had an oversized chainring on the front... Basically a road bike, that was more steady in the rain!!!!! Just saying!!!

in this case you can't go on equipment. There is a huge difference in performance for a full time athlete(training up to 30hrs a week, it not more) against someone who sits in an office the whole day (train maybe up to 15/20 hrs)! compare apples with apples

I know, I was just taking the piss. The number of times its been said that person x won on a (insert option here:__________________dual, hardtail, 26er, 29er, etc, etc) therefore it must be the fastest machine ever made. When obviously the person probably would have won on anything.

Big ups to Merredew... a working class man beating Sauser!!!!

Yep...Sean is a weekend warrior like most of us....he was riding top 50 elite races with less than 20 hrs training per week when I was sharing tarmac with him. I think he manages Zululand cycles in Umhlanga, so still working class

Yep....Burry is definitely a major league player, so not taking anything away from his remarkable performance
