During my last service I asked the the dealership to have a look at the electric window on my car. It goes up, but then as soon as it gets there, it goes down again about halfway.

Got the car back with a R3700 quote to fix the window.

Thought: "No way.I will have a look see for myself first."

Fixed it this morning in 30min by adjusting two screws!

For sure I will take this further with the dealer but they will not see me again and neither will I buy anything from this manufacturer!

Idiots!

Yup you have to be on your guard.

The old fav is new (expensive) brake pads with every service. Even if you do need new pads, go past a Supaquick. about 1/5 the price that the dealer will charge.

yip , you need to be on your guard

Funny how my car needed new brake pads at each service after my motor plan expired and not even once in motor plan?

And my other vehicle will be out of motor plan on 19 May. I took the vehicle for the last service in motor plan 2 weeks ago. I dealer stated that the vehicle is in perfect working order. Took it to AA for a all mechanical check up. AA found and reported that the brake pads are Done/Klaar/kopoet/Finished and the disks needed skimming. Took vehicle back to dealer with report . . . service manager said that they forgot to check this in their service. Needless to say , had discussions with regional managers and even went up to national level. . . got extra 6 months on my motor plan = 1 more service and they refunded my payment at AA for the mechanical check ar R550.

Its worth while to take your vehicle to AA !

Ya go to a scrap yard or a midas or such for parts - recently replaced the cigarette lighter unit : over R500 at the dealer, R50 at the scrapyard, just for the part

Oh and also when I took the car in they said I need new disks and pads, got qouted about R3500 I think.

I guess I shouldn't have told them I'll do it somewhere else, caus when I got the car back they had removed the fuse for the indicator and put it in another spot for electric windows (which my car doesn't have)which meant I was driving on the highway and changing lanes without actually indicating, could have had a lekker smash :cursing:

It definately pays to know a little about cars, as it doesnt matter what dealer you deal, they will always try to pull the wool over you eyes. I have had similar issues but because I knew more or less what was wrong they couldnt fool me. People that dont know, and say ok fix these people, sorry to say are the cause. No questions just pay. Therefore it pays if you get to know the people you are dealing with in order to build a level of trust. Yes I agree send it to carte blanche. People like this must be exposed.

When I took the inside door panel off, there was a plastic film underneath it to protect the electronics against water and dust. On that film it says that once you remove it, you have to replace it. Now you have to remove it to see what is going on behind it.

THE DEALER SURE AS HELL DID NOT REMOVE THIS.

It was just easier to type out a quote of R3700!

And also about the brake thing: It is just insane that this seems to be the new trend to want to replace disks and pads during every serrvice. I asked them why do they want to replace the pads and disks? They look fine to me. The answer was: They won't last till the next service.

So what? That means there is still at least 15000km worth of "brakes" to be used...It has been 15000km later and the pads and disks can still go another 5000km before I need to replace them.

I ride a volvo, When I sent it in to have the brakes replaced specifically along with a service, I told them that it is important for them to replace my brakes. I received a call later in the day stating that my cars was done and I could collect. I asked the service advisor if the brakes were replaced and he didnt even know. He called me back saying that the technician said it doesnt have to be replaced. After a few words, and suggesting they take the wheels off and check my pads.... well. Anyways lets just say that the longer I own a volvo, the more worse the sevice and I dont rate them as the safest cars in the world any longer.

VW charged me R600 for a front light bulb!!! Went to non VW garage...R85

Hyuandai Helderberg wanted R550 for a Rear Brake Light during a service - wife told them to stuff it!!! When we got the car back (ATOS), they had already done the work but obviously decided to leave the R10 bulb in place instead of trying to remove it.

But what gets me is when sub quality parts are used.

We now get the car serviced elsewhere but when they replaced the broken driver side wiper blade, they used a R30 one (saw it on the invoice) - it broke again after less than a year and it happen on Wednesday when it rained while driving. Replaced it with a quality blade for R95
