shucks it seems that nothing is guaranteed success. I stay in EL, found out that Spike Erasmus comes 2 port alfred every second month and is already fully booked for end of May. :(

like most of you guys, cycling is my passion. therefore i need to get ahead of myself and see how well this issue can be treated.

Kingsley someone-or-the-other... I'll go check. He did my broken knee. He's a genius.

Are you referring to Kinsgley Foote who used to practise in Springs TNT?

Nah, something with an N, I'll go dig out the bills or the xrays and let ya know, he operates out of Glynwood and somewhere in bedfordview.

Andrew_ew: maybe tell us who this 'twat' is. remember, it's only an opinion, which you are most certainly entitled to. but if a doc out there stuffs up, i would like to know who to avoid. No one's perfect, but still...

Fortunately he is now retired so no need to mention his name - one too many negligence cases I think - I never sued him as I know how difficult it is to prove it. The same sad excuse for an orthapod, after I popped it again, I went back to him and he told me that nothing could be done. I gave up rugger for years and did not do much exercise except running short distances. Eventually the knee started dislocating without doing much to cause it and I went to see Osman who sorted it and it is still strong - the man is a genius for knees and understands the demands of sport.

Spike did my right ACL 8 years ago, and did a pretty good job but I didn't like his personality and "after sale service" / rehab very much.

I had my left ACL done by Dr Taine Munting from Sports Science in Newlands 3 years ago. He is a cyclist too, nice guy and he did a great job. I did the Burger 2.5months after my ACL reconstruction.

If I had a choice i will go for Munting

His name is Kingsley Nkoweyi. Someone else to see is Daan du Plessis.

Without a doubt , Spike Erasmus. He is the gold standard and the rest follow him.He is internationally recognised. He has seen many a Springbok rugby player and also looks after the Proteas cricket team. Need one say more. He is available in Stellenbosch and in Port Alfred, although Stellenbosch is his base.

yeah Spike Erasmus is the guy i went too see, he did a good job and have never had problems again even after playing some more rugga.

Just make sure he does the right knee though, i think he has operated on the wrong knee before(and was sued). That is why he gives you a pen to mark which knee needs to be operated on :)

lol.. i remember that pen fabes. but it also reminds me of something else: in the pre-op consult, Spike asked me what I want to be able to do after the surgery. So I said any sport that strains the knee the most. SO he says alrighty then.

now that was a bit weird, because it sort of felt like the intended activity would determine the scope/quality of the work. anyone else have to field that question?

As someone who had multiple knee operations and has injured almost everything in my knee I can tell you get any doctor with a good reputation and stick to your rehab program. 5 Years after my first operation and I am still struggling with rehab because I did not do it right the first time. Also I know Spike Erasmus is very good if your are in the western cape.
