The full susses seem to be trailing the HT's in the 29ers - I have a FS, and have tested HT's. Yes the HT is smoother than a 26" HT, but the decision to go FS applies as it does on a 26". I like the fact that I do not have to use my legs as the suspension going down a hill and can pedal, and have more grip and control.

The big thing is to find a reasonably prices FS, as many of the the manufacturers are only recently producing FS's - I am more than happy with my Ellsworth, but I have heard good things about the Spez Epic?

Go with the Hardtail.

Less maintenance, lighter and cheaper.

With those big ass wheels at just under 2Bar, you dont need FS.

As for Stage races; did a 8-day one last month on the HT. ..No problems or regrets

I have both a Momsen AL329 hardtail & Hifi Pro full sus and I never ride the hardtail.

I am not much of a weight weenie so I've never weighed my bike but I guess it is round about 12kgs. Its a medium, I have changed the wheels, tyres and seat. I guess the standard Hifi Pro should be round about 13kgs.

Bicycling magazine actually had a article last month, 10 HT`s under R20 000 against each other.

Pretty decent from a `re-print most old articles` magazine!
