Depends on how old you are  :whistling:

Me being closer to 40 and I would say definitely go for a dual-sus...easier on the back

Thats what everyone said about 26ers. and yet years later......

Can you get a well kept, good 29er fs for 5-7 k?

That will be very hard to get. Let's be honest now even a hard tail with good components will be hard.

As will LP's or records as some called them or lace up cycling shoes ....

LP's are making a huge come back.... and I mean huge!! Giro road cycling shoes look pretty cool with laces!

Thanks for your input. Thats what I thought. So Ill be saving some more then. What is a descent entry level FS bike? I see many people riding anthems?

If u search the classifieds section here for FS bikes I'd say plus / minus R20k

(I ride a Giant Anthem X...really good)

I did this year's Absa Cape Epic with a HT and didn't have any issues. But if I had the money, I would go for Specialized Epic FS. HT is good shorter races and dual for longer. That's my 2 cents worth.

Then Ill rather invest in a good HT, since I don't think ill ever ride more than 5 hours offload.

And my current bike is 16,5 kg.....

  • 2 weeks later...

I'm shopping for a 29er carbon ht. Have a 26er ds. Dual sussers are more comfortable, but expensive to maintain. Best is to buy one of everything :P or get a rigid fork hardtail. no shocks to service.
