When I was young I always use to read that word as Yohs-might, despite having seen the cartoons of this dude……sorry, pretty random, but kinda fitting with the thread, no?

stratus5 Posted June 1, 2011 Posted June 1, 2011 Is there a line connected to you in the one pic? Yes. Its used to tow the gliders up behind a car. Pretty much like flying a kite. Used inland where there are no suitable mountains (or where the wind blows to strongly to safely launch off a mountain) to launch off. The tow typically gets you to about 300m above ground, which is normally enough to find the first thermal. If not, land and try again
stratus5 Posted June 1, 2011 Posted June 1, 2011 pity about the mine in the backdrop Yup, its a pretty "ugly" place. Just out of view to the left is a huge power distribution center. High voltage lines and transformers everywhere. Scary to fly over if you are a bit low
