After I punctured this weekend, and my tire didn't seal again I thought it might be time to clean my tires and rims and reseal my tubeless setup from scratch.

After I removed the tire I found that the inside was completely dry (guess that's why it didn't seal), and the inside of the tire was covered with this rubbery/silicone substance. Is that what happens to Stans after it dies?

My question... how the hell do you clean the inside of the tire? Do I need to clean it? I don't want to use something like turpentine as I don't know what it will do to the tire... any suggestions or advise?

Thanks!

just leave it and add some more fresh/new sealant, put the tire back on inflate and enjoy riding your bike.

i really dont think there is a way to get that stuff off the inside of your tire its like dried glue and most things that would remove it might delaminate or damage your tire (please correct me if im wrong as i'm sure hub style someone will of i'm wrong).

Be very patient. Use your fingers and/or rough piece of cloth and rub it off. It takes quite a while (couple of hours). I cleaned both of mine and the tyres was nice and light again afterwards. If you just keep adding new sealant, the latex/rubber keeps building up inside, making it quite a bit heavier than necessary.

You had me worried with the title of the thread. The after tubeless part made ne think there was a new and improved technology that I had not yet heard of or adopted. Being an idiotic trendchaser and riding a 29 er , this caused me serious angst. I will need to increase my number of weekly therapy sessions now for my universe to regain equilibrium............ or just go for a nice ride :)

If you put some turps on it with a cloth it makes it a little softer and easier to pick off with fingernails. We talking 3 hours instead of five. You have to give some time for it to soak in. The turps did no damage to my tyre (Swalbe UST's). It is such a mission that next time I am just leaving it.

Hi Guys,

I did the same thing this weekend, took the tyres off did a solid clean and put tyres back on, bombed it and it set very well.

Now after a week my front tyre is still inflated, but my back tyre deflated. It looks like the air came out of the side between the rim and tyre.

Any advice to sort this out...

Use a pump??

Just kidding, I'm assuming it keeps loosing pressure. Many people say that bombing tyres isn't good because it causes the sealant to congeal. Maybe that is what happened, even though the sealant is new.

Other thoughts are to shake it so the sealant covers everywhere including the bead, and re pump, and repeat, over a day or two. Should sort it out.

Other than that I dunno

Help any tricks or tips?

i have often had issues with tyres resealing properly after putting new sealant in and as long as the tyre has beaded to the rim properly, i just keep pumping them up and they always seal, eventually

Inspect the area wheer it is leakeing...via soap water (lost of suds!!)

I'm sure there will be some sort of leftover latex etc. on eiteher the rim side or the bead of the tyre in teh leaky spot...

remove and voila!
