Ah man, when did you go? I went in 2010 and I am itching to do it again.

Drove through last Wednesday, hiked Thursday to Monday, and drove home on Tuesday.

Wish I had more time to spend a few more days exploring the area around the canyon - reason enough to want to go back some day.

Magical wilderness that

I did both the Fish and the Grand Canyon, and I prefer the Fish. The Grand felt too plastic and touristy.

There's something about a camp fire that makes me just want to look at it, even though it doesn't do much. Can't describe that feeling...

I haven't really compared the two in terms of size. We decended about 500m into the Fish. How does the Grand compare in terms of size?

The Grand is much longer and deeper also, but I don't have the stats. How I experienced it on a personal level - both felt just as immensely impressive. I suppose it has to do with your own smallness next to something as huge.

I love how isolated Fish is. Sleeping under the stars on the beach sand.

*sigh. This is not helping

  • 4 weeks later...

Some pics I took when I was in Underberg in 2010, taken with my Nikon Coolpix L20 (which I gave to a mate a few years ago).

I still have a point and shoot though, a Coolpix L29.... DSLR's seem too complicated for me to operate.

I spent a little time in the bush lately....and will bore you with pictures for the foreseeable future:

As per usual, let's start with a sunset!
