You guys are seriously underestimating these crooks.

If you all think that they only realised last night what the value of these bikes are, you are in for a big surprise.

And that is the problem. We underestimate the enemy.

You post your bike on the hub for sale - BAM! The crooks find out what kind of bikes to look for.

You post where you ride your expensive bike - BAM! The crooks now know where to hide!

And so on!

Well done Carte Blanche.

I know we would have like more in the 12 minutes but lets not knock one of the few groups that aired the story.

The police are the ones that should be investigating this, Carte Blanche gave awareness to the problem. We know about the problem because it affects us, people who dont ride have no idea.

Lets keep up the momentum!!

Not sure why ppl think it was bad journalism. Hopefully it will open more eyes and minds to the problem that is ongoing. I wonder if anyone watching last nite thought "oh crap! maybe that bike i got at a steal was in fact a steal???" The more people know about a problem the more gets done about it. And now maybe just maybe when a bicycle gets reported stolen the police will act a bit more

I wonder how much it must of cost to put that piece in? I mean for Carte Blanche to take it up ppl should view it as serious problem.

Well done to all involved

Personally I was disappointed in the INVESTIGATIVE journalism of Carte Blanche!

So much more could have been shown and featured.

This is a topic close to our hearts, but how sad was this programme put together.

Is bike hijacking not taking place in any other parts of the country?

Who is buying these bikes for a R1000?

How do they get taken out of the country and who is doing this? I am sure one bike is not taken at a time, so there must be some kind of syndicate.

Be more specific wrt the countries these bicycles are being taken to.

Who is at the receiving end once the bike arrive and are they sold on the street or in lbs!

Who in SA is buying these bikes? Sure they are not only stolen for export.

Were the persons caught ever sentenced?

Why only interview one lbs owner?

(Just some questions)

As usual I am waiting on the hubbers to slap me with there snide remarks.

Yes, but it also creates a smarter mtb'er, which will be less of a victim!

If you have been following whats actually going on in all the various threads, and read more into this, you will be pleasantly surprised to find that they do already have a Private Investigator on the case. He don't work for free unfortunatly.

Well done and thank-you to all involved in getting this aired on Carte Blanche.

A few folks have mentioned riding in large groups, which is all good and well for training rides, but what about those who commute to work? It's not always possible to find people who live in your suburb that work in close proximity to you and are able to ride at the exact same time as you.

Really? You want me to agree to let you spam me, sell my personal information etc, so that I can DONATE money to a cause???

Now I'm more than fine to donate money to this fine cause, but I'd need the following:

1] the objectives of this fund, clearly outlined.

2] A viewable audit, showing what will be spent and where.

3] The credentials of the PI involved.

4] I'd like an opt-out for any marketing/spam due to giving away my personal details.
