Some of us "Arm Blankes", like me can't afford disc brake upgrades such as Sram Avid XX  , and have to make do with what we have. My entry level hayes stroker ryde rotors after doing 8000km now need to be replaced. With a tight budget the Alligator 160mm Rotors look like an option,

but which one? - both are cheap (R150 each @ CWC)

What are you views?

i've just bought the wind cutters and am happy this far, still running true, will have to see what pad life is like as i have heard that they can eat pads?

Think about it....are these brakes for show? or functionality??

Personally, the more metal there can be on the breaking surface...the better!! That's waht they are there for! If you want bling-bling...then get a pair of cool shades... :D

Buy the more metal.

I had a Windcutter. Disliked it. It ate disc pads for breakfast. And delivered a "shuddery" feel when braking hard.

See if you can find a set of something like Avid G3's on the hub's for sale section.

Gotta agree here. Windcutters not great in my opinion, they do not offer great breaking . Look at some tektro rotors. Generic avids, and very good.

Better also check the local shops, because you may find what you need for about 150 bucks apiece, without the hassle factor of getting it from overseas. That's exactly what I paid for a Hayes generic at Crown Cycles in Landsdowne Road, Cape Town a couple of weeks ago.

Yeah, the lysdexia is killing me today! Sorry. On the other hand, Northern suburbs is another country, right? Even if not overseas.

Slightly off the topic, but who else has noticed the rotors on this often used picture is wrong way round?

What I can see is that is was called fashion by Capricorn, and JB stated that calling it fashion is being kind to the industry.

Would still like to know about this right & wrong way (other than fashion / convention)
