Welcome to the Pedal Power Association

Well done to everyone who successfully completed the inaugural Die Burger Fietstoer.

Please note that cyclists identified as crossing the white line during the event, will be disqualified, with potential further disciplinary action to follow.

CYCLING MARSHALS NEEDED: We are looking for cycling marshals to assist at funrides (riding in their seeded groups), primarily wrt the ?white line rule? and littering.

In particular, we need cycling marshals with a seeding of A to L, who usually ride the longer routes. Contact the PPA office if you are keen.

Eina!  I am all for fines and DQ'ing riders who cross the white line (see my position on the other active thread), but it would be nice if it was all planned and properly executed, not knee-jerk, shoot from the hip justice!

Seems wild to anyone else?  plus poor Ronelle just wanted to take my pic, not cause trouble in the family!Embarrassed

If PPA is going to DQ riders at this late stage, I will have no other option than to resign from Cycling, because then again the authority of the officials of the day that was in charge of the race, gets undermined.

As far as I know the officials didn't find it necessary to DQ anybody during the race.  If they said it was not a problematic situation, then I rely on their expertise.

Agree with AuctionLamb, marshals in the group will not work for the front bunches (I am not going to volunteer to be a target!).  It's difficult enough to get guys to work together when they like you!

Get us motorbike marshals. Please

Poison Ivy, might it not be that it has only come to the attention of the organisers that the race officials allowed the rules to be broken? i seem to recal a whole big outcry that the officials WEREN'T enforcing regulations and that the organisers must address it and yet now when they do there's another outcry.

nothing personal but seriously it's sounding more and more like a kindergarten school groun here... where in typical fashio the bullies scream that the rules must be enforced when they are on the "losing end" of the breaking thereof but hten scream about being given detention when they themselves get caught.

and then we wonder why Jacob Zuma looks set to be our next president... our entire SOUTH AFRICAN culture is based on double standards (it is not a racial thing, contrary to popular belief)

Seriously SP, now why would you think the race officials would not be enforcing the regulations during the race on Sunday?
