Having an issue with my cleats........

When starting a race or riding my cleat has flipped over and it is a mission to flip it over and get clipped in......

Sometimes with almost falling off the bike to try and get this right.

Are there any tricks to this.

I ride Keo's on both my road bikes and they are one of the easiest pedals to get into and out of.

Couple of tips;

1). stay smooth, if you kick your foot forward and expect a perfect engagement every time, you'll hardly ever get it right.

2). once you feel the front of the cleat  hooking the pedal, push down with you heel, if it doesn't engage then move you foot away completely to let the pedal rotate back to the neutral position to allow a retry.

3). practice on your own on a fairly quiet, flat road like a deserted parking lot, and look down until you perfect the movement of toe engage, heel down. Once you've got it right so you engage every time, then start looking forward until you get that right.

4). it's important not to panic when the gun goes and the race starts, sit down, look forward and feel your toe engage and then your heel.

If all else fails, do what I do and let the Force guide your foot master LukeEvil%20Smile

He he... reminds me of the advice my journeyman gave me when i was a apprentice and trying to put a screw or bolt into a hole you cannot see...

   "Put some hair around it (the hole) or in this case the pedal."

Moral of the story, you dont need to see it just feel it....

Dont worry with practise comes experience and soon you will be slipping clipping in without even having to think about it.

How do you see it anyway.  I don't have eyes in the bottom of my feet, so when I clip in the pedal and cleat are pretty much hidden by my hooves.
