What I don't understand is I brush mine everyday, but after vacuuming the house the hair balls still appear like magic.

Rubber broom...all that works. My GSD sheds like crazy. Bought an expnsive vacuum cleaner that can suck a Golf ball through a garden hose...but his hair block the pipe to quickly...Rubber broom and elbow grease all that works for me.

Is that to brush the dog or the floors?

Luckily in our new home we only have tiles. In the old house I had to use the rubber broom on the carpets.

What do they look like?

I have a metal comb/rake thingy.

Something like this..

I am curious to find out if it makes life a little easier.

Then you also get the undercoat brush thingy...9d227ca2709d6133a9fe1a9cad8d01a8.jpg

@ Gen and Baldrick, thank you, I will have a look at the pet shop. Had my metal comb/rake thingy for years so a new one may be in order.

Let me know how the dematting one works for those areas you mentioned that are a mission

When I met my husband him and his mom had just stopped showing but they still had 5 german Shepherds .. many a days spent combing and I remember that the one female had a hectic undercoat but some of the other dogs not as thick as hers

Will never forget the first time I stopped there.. he stopped the car, I opened the door and here were 5 shepherds.. I just closed the door again.. he got out said plats and in unison they went to lie down.. was sold on them after that...

That green one looks like it comes from the Spanish Inquistion

A normal metal comb with 1.5mm gap between the teeth usually helps with any matting around the hind quarters

They are just the best! Love them.

My parents had them from when before I was born so literally grew up with them and then got my own once I stopped moving between countries.

Very sadly, this morning was the first time in more than 25 years that I start my day without a Labrador.. Rufus passed away yesterday after a short but severe illness. His extreme enthusiasm and his skill as an expert retriever will be severely missed.

So incredibly sorry for your loss.

I am so very very sorry for your loss. When a dog crosses Rainbow Bridge it is so hard.
