Is weird, I had a cat Missy that loved to be stroked and used to paw my hand when it wanted to be stroked.

Let's see... Some poor kitty on death row in a shelter gets taken to a lab. It gets pricked with needles and then some stranger holds it down and "strokes" it and then it gets pricked with more needles. Um, yeah, I would also get stressed out.

Anyone who works with rescue shelters and spends more than 10 minutes in a shelter will know that the majority of the cats want affection once they know you. Deprive them of that and they start to suffer from kennel stress - hair and appetite loss, dry skin, etc. force attention of strangers onto them and they also get stressed - hair and appetite loss, disrupted digestion, aggression.

This "study" is a farce.

So here are a few updated pictures on a few of my critters.

They grow up so quickly.....

how many "critters" do you have? I quite like spiders, but I wouldn't want one as a pet.

this rain spider was sitting on the door of my car. I drove on the highway and it didn't budge.

eventually "dropped" him off when I got to my destination

I've currently got 15 but always looking for more. They vary from the tropical regions like Brazil and venezuela to the more "old world" species from India, Sri lanka, etc. Can't keep local species due to permitting issues believe it or not.

Just got one of these a few weeks back, mine is still a tiny 1cm spiderling, cost R650. This is a pic of it as an adult, gorgeous.

This is a Blue fang tarantula for Brazil, French Guiana, Guyana and Suriname. Also in the same family is the skeleton taratula, emerald skeleton and burgundy skeleton.

This is the skeleton tarantula, have a tiny sling of this one too:)

Cat friendly feel good story follows

Yesterday there was a story in one of the local free newspapers about this cat that got onboard a early morning train that was heading to zurich main station, it apparently was happily walking around amongst the passengers getting stroked and patted.

Once the train reached the end station (Zurich) someone handed it in to the train authority who in turn took it to an animal shelter.

Today they reported that it had been reunited with the daughter of the cat's owner who is away on holiday

Pics taken by passengers
