Hi,

I have just increased my training to about 8 to 10 hours a week. Now I find myself constantly hungry, even on my rest days.

I am hoping this is normal. I am also hoing that there is some way that i can make it better, maybe by changing my diet. I don't want to feel hungry all the time.

Any advice?

Eat some pies :D

It's about calories. If you're burning them, your body will want to replace them, so monitor your weight over a few days. If you're not putting on weight, then eat without feeling bad about it!

Me too. My dietician told me to just eat. Not bigger meals but smaller proper snacks more frequently. Sugarfree stuff and more water. It is pretty boring food but I have managed to drop about 5kgs so far. Another 5 to go till the Epic but I have the grounds to work on now. Not sure if that will help you but I hope you get it right.

I've tried eating more fruit and I drink loads of water. But nothing seems to last very long.

The strange thing is that even after 2 or 3 rest days, I still have to eat more than usual. Where do all the calories go?

I'm not worried about weight AT ALL!

RECOVERY!

When you train your body breaks down. When you recover, it repairs itself to be stronger than before. That's why recovery is so important. I am not surprised that the body still requires more food when recovering. I think you will start to store some of it after a few days though.

You should be worrying about weight...power to weight ratio is key and reducing your weight is the easiest way to improve in that area. Try snacking on Woolworths protein bars - cheap for a protein bar at R10 each and a good way to stay away from the carbs when you are looking for something to snack on.

Why? I eat anything that doesn't move. And some stuff that is still moving, and never put any weight on. Even if I take time off from any form of exercise, I don't pick up weight, and eat the same amount of food.

Eat while you are on the bike, every 20 mins or so, and immediately afterwards. Decent food if you can. Peanut butter and honey sarnies are good, and add extra protein afterwards, eggs, biltong etc.

Is Slim slab any good?

Slim Slab tastes good but they don't fill me up. The Woolworths bars are quite nice, especially the Omega-3 bars (the blue ones). I tend to keep a few spare lying around so that I can snack on one if I feel hungry.
