Hairy Posted September 30, 2011 Share There is also a real tactile feel in the difference between an SLX and XT shifter .. the latter being firmer and crisper. Not that the SLX feels bad in any way, but the lever on the XT is far stiffer. SLX is an exception value for money groupset without a big sacrifice on weight. An example would be the SLX cranks which are 30g heavier than XT yet are said to be stiffer than the XT. To the OP, you never clarified what kind of a rider you are ... will you be gunning to win the races, just be doing lots of mileage or be a low to medium mileage weekend warrior?
