I suggest that you arrange a early departure group and a late departure group from the halfway stop. Last month the time stopped was way too long so small groups started leaving on their own - that's why its falling apart.

Time at the halfway stop will be shorter this month. The point of critical mass is to be a mass, not separate groups. And it becomes more dangerous as soon as there are separate groups

To those riding to the start from Dunkeld - the ride back to Dunkeld has been dangerous because people ride back in smaller groups. I have suggested that everyone meets at the petrol station after the Nelson Mandela bridge, and the we ride back once a group has formed. Will let everyone know what the decision is

You don't have to, but i would advise having a front and rear light for visibility.

Seems like you are missing the point of the CM. There are enough other rides and races if this doesn't rock your boat. Go there rather!

 

No I think I grasp the point - and I enjoy the ride. Just don't think we should drop the weaker riders off the back to accomodate the people that want to race off the front. I doubt many people who get dropped in the middle of town or Hillbrow will come back for another ride, and that would be a real shame.
