Smolly Posted May 4, 2012 Share .The most important question to be asked!Took one for a spin the other day, it was a large and I take a medium, so did some pavement cruising and curb hopping and it felt great. I presume there is a fair amount of flex in the carbon as it was not too hard on my back and it didn't feel bulky like a previous naainer that I rode. I'm tempted to take the plunge and buy one

Boonducks Posted May 4, 2012 Share I bought one about 3 weeks ago, been waiting for it for ages. I've been riding a full sus for many years so it was a real shock to the system to get back on a hardtail. On only the 2nd ride I did the the Honda adventure 40k raceat Maropeng and really did well, better than I expected. I found the bike really easy to get used to, even though it's the first 29er I've rode.Very quick and super stable on the downhills and flies over the rocky stuff though on the flats and grass it was uncomfortable, although I may have forgotten how to ride a hardtail. Great fork but I think it may be set at 80mm, not 100mm. Need to check that at the shop. Love the saddle, realised I'd been suffering for years on my previous Specialised Phenom.Overall pretty pleased, going to try it this weekend at Clarens in the MTN national. As to previous posts about the quality of Silverback this is my 2nd and never had a problem. . You won't regret it. After test-riding other 29ers, I also found this to be the most comfortable hardtail. This is also my first 29er and it takes a few minutes at most to feel completely at home on the bike - quite the contrary to what I expected. Have to agree with everything, except that my perception is that the Storm is very comfy for a hardtail - much more so than my 26" CF. Bigmozzarella Posted May 7, 2012 Share Looks so much like the Scott Scale 29 Expert, apart from the rounded back traingle. Colours expecially. But then again - it's an MTB... they're all pretty much look similar in many respects. The new shape of eh back dropouts is going to be a common thing on bieks with in-frame mounted calipers. Boonducks Posted May 9, 2012 Share Did MTN Clarens on my Storm1 this weekend, I'm really getting used to it now and it flies! Those 29 wheels chew up the k's, bit of a struggle with the gearing on big uphills as I'm so used to 3 chainrings in front but just another thing to conquer. I'd recommend this bike to anyone but go and buy it at CycleZone in Rustenburg, they will beat every other price I've seen here substantially. Great shop with a huge selection. OneMac Posted May 14, 2012 Share I have read this thread, and for Looks, the stom seems to get 10/10. There are however only a handfull of guys who have ridden one. Most importantly, no one has compared it to other 29er hard tails. I am specifically interested in the Ghost HTX 29 Actium 9500. Although this is an Aluminium frame, it seems to have all the specs of a champ. Any comments
