up to 9/13 win loss now.

I think the context of the toss is important only when it's a close game, and then the decision could have had enough of an effect to change the result.

When SA won the toss v india, it didn't matter if we batted, bowled or bribed the umpires, we were going to lose.

To be honest, i think the wickets have been so unpredictable that teams were reluctant to bat first. Also it being played in the UK with their unpredictable weather it might have been a preference to know what the DLS par score is when chasing and then pacing your innings accordingly.

But my old mate, im still of the opinion that having runs on the board almost always gives you a slight advantage.

Big game tomorrow for the Poms.

indeed!

if they lose then the Ban vs PAK one becomes huge.

india winning today meant that there is one more way in for them, but just

Jip! I really like this Pakistan side, they have some talent in there, they just need to stay focused and play to their ability. I feel the same about the Windies, so much talent just a pity they are not winning the big moments! I mean they keep getting so close, yesterday was such a good game and the match of the tournament for me is definitely the Windies v NZ game. So close!!!

But in all likeliness its going to be Aus v Eng in the first semi, and NZ v India in the other. Aus v India in the final. On the day either of them can win it, but i’d have to say Aus in my opinion are the most likely to pull it off.

The problem I have when those two are playing each other, is that both can't loose.

India have had some proper scares against AFG and now BAN. When Bumrah went down, I have NEVER seen a physio run so fast! He was crucial to getting over the line, as Shami was getting dismantled and they would have needed to find a 6th bowler.

I really hope NZ will pull it off today, just to keep the race alive.

if they don't there is almost no way pak can overhaul NZ on runrate even if they do win their final game (+0,5 vs -0,79) - they would need the run diff in the NZ/ENG game and the PAK/BAN game to be combined ~450 in their favour.

on the balance of things, ENG should really close this out today - and then the NZ v Ind semi would be interesting as that's the one washed out game we missed!

ENG 110/0 after 17overs.

NZ going to need to do a lot to get over the line here.

Only thing left to do is see if SA can upset Aus and make them play England instead of NZ

Eng 194/1 after 30... they should have been thinking a 370+ score was on the cards....

BUT

249/5 after 43... seems they will be happy if they go past 300 now.

Cluster of wickets changed the innings

great comeback. 272-7, england bat deep, will need them all to make 300

so..let's put the Pakistan task into numbers

if they bowl first, they can't win. even if they bowl them out for 0 and score a 6 off their only ball, they can't win.

if they bat first, they need to win by a LOT of runs. how many? 316

so ja, final 4 is selected

Theoretically Pakistan is still in with a miniscule chance as they won the toss and could thus elect to bat.

They need to win by 316 runs, which means they need to score way above that.

Not looking great at 225/2 after 39, but they might still reach 350 or more. To be honest their expulsion is just delayed a little longer.
