This Casio diver might fit the bill, not sure about a local supplier though. I saw one of these in Istanbul a few weeks ago and it looks very solid.

That's got the look and its Casio so won't be total crap, thanks!

I just followed the amazon link, its around R500, awesome. I'll have a look if they have them on eBay, free shipping and all.

Anyone got feedback on these?

One of the guys at the office has one and he is happy with it. He says the reason they are so cheap for a watch with an automatic movement is that the parts they use are 'B grade' / factory seconds. He doesn't have issues with his watch though. The big date models go up to 39, so you'll have to manually adjust those.

One of my friends purchased an automatic from that crowd last year, and it looks very cheap in my opinion. You can clearly see that they are trying extremely hard to make their cheap watches look expensive, but when you take a closer look you can see the poor workmanship.

In that price range I will rather look for a minimalist quartz from a reputable brand. Citizen, Seiko, Orient Swatch, Timex etc.

Okes on watch forums are going gaga over Invicta. It's mostly diver homages. Looks quite nice.
