Mine in Rigid spec like that is 7.95 and hasn't got any silly parts on it. I can bash my way down all the singletrack in Tokai without a worry.

Think this was meant for the "lightest 29er in SA" thread?

Go look at the scott cr1 comp 2011 model, full carbon with 105 groupset. They go for about R12000 brand new.

New is best, you get a proper fitting and back-up from the shop.

thanks..i been looking for one of those too, if anyone know of size 56 stock, let me know.

I built up a lovely road steed based on Cannondale CAAD5 Al frame sourced here and new SRAM Force - and some second hand bits & pieces, came in about R12k, still loving it. About to build some tubeless wheels with Stans roadie Rims & Hope Pro 3 hubs , that's a bit of splash-out & upgrade to the el-cheapo Shimanos I got off the hub for R500

You'll be paying a premium for a Carbon frame and for first road bike / entry level, I don't think there is much point besides the bling.

I've got the Cannondale CAAD8 105 and I can tell you now, I am very happy with my purchase. Even in hindsight, I wouldn't get another bike, except maybe the CAAD10. The alloy frame is on par with some of the carbon frames on the market. Get the bike, you won't regret a thing! And I'll wait for my 6 pack in the mail for the thanks! laugh.gif
