Anyone who says Crater is an easy ride is a pathological liar

Dangle I was thinking of you. Watched a guy (who shall remain unnamed but he rides for cyclelab so you'll know who it is) on a SS and I felt for him. Not the spinning out on the flat but the vibrations going thru that rigid fork. Eina pyn! Made my ride more comfortable just watching him.

I see they have taken to labelling secitons "Paris-Roubaix" - indeed!

Amazed at the pace of the racing snakes. Also seems less 'fun riders' nowadays, got a bit lonely towards the rear of the proceedings.

Crazy man! I see the first SS rider finished nearly an hour ahead of me

Strong ride! Also did it on the hardtail but found it ok, the last stretch tested my resolve :whistling:

Thanks - I know a youngster who finished top 30 and rode a hardtail for the first time on this route - he swore never again.

I have huge respect for anyone who rides a rigid single speed on that course, regardless of how quick or slow they are.

I have made sub 4 there on my geared bike before, just missed out on it last year with the SS.

I was not well and I was also one tooth over-geared, but I must be honest, I don't know if I have the courage to go and give it a bash.

Agreed - it's as much a mentally tough race as it is a physically tough one.

Well done on your ride

All of you well done, I rode out to the dam yesterday with a group, it was our "bail out of Crater" ride.
