700 23c vs 700 25c

i'm just waiting for my 1 set of 23mm Gators to wear out. After installing 25mm on my 2nd set of wheels, I hate riding on the 23mm.

averaging 800km a month, and using it on the IDT so it should go fairly quick... I hope

Have 2 tandems. On the training tandem have 28c gators. On the race tandem have 2 sets of wheels. One set we had 23 both front and back and the other set 23 front and 25 rear. Have never actually had issues with the 23 but apparently some clever people did research and 25 have the lowest rolling resistance. So have just recently managed to wear out the last 23 and now all 4 race wheels have 25. Will keep the 28 on the training bike. O and they all gatorskin. Can't go wrong with those on a tandem, even for racing.

If one has a look at the GCN tech shows on Youtube, most pros are going for 25 or larger now.

My tandem came with 23's . I changed to 25's .... what a difference .

Will try 28's next .

Years ago Zipp said tests showed a 21mm was fastest over 40km TT.That was in a test between 21,23,25mm.

 

Now suddenly tests are showing that 25mm on wide rims is fastest[emoji10][emoji15]

 

I enjoy the feel of 25mm over the 23mm and it's more comfortable [emoji106]

Old Thread but I just switched to 25c from 23c... Way more comfortable...

mine fitted and cant wait to go on the first ride - should be the weekend or so
