...some months back, when I heard the news the news of Patrick Morewood leaving Morewood Bikes, I was kinda bummed...

...but earlier this week I saw the 2012 Morewood bikes, and as was stated before... the company is in good hands. In fact, I love that htey've gone back to bigger travel bikes... quite a few new models that I would sell family members for!

... then today I saw Morewoodkid post this on FB...

Pat’s never been much good at sitting around. If you ever go and stay with him for any length of time you’ll realise that there’s always something around that needs doing, making. So I didn’t really think there would be much of a gap between his journey at Morewood and this new venture. And there wasn’t.

Today is a proud day, it’s the first day of PYGA Industries, the first day building the new bike Brand and a journey that we hope loads of riders will join us on.

We’ve got some exciting designs in the pipe-line and the last few months we’ve been building and testing some prototypes. We’ll keep you posted with everything PYGA related here. So if there’s something going on in the workshop, you can be sure you’ll see it first right here.

In the meantime, have a gander at these head tubes that we’re starting with, they are a beautiful representation of the new. It’s where all our bikes start, once we have the head tubes, there’s no backing out, you have to weld them onto something… - 29/11/2011

I'm sure whatever it is it'll be good. Strange new Morewood owners didn't make him sign a restriction of trade. Unless that was part of the deal to allow him to move on. Ahh well, bring it on!

Dude. You parted with a Vitamin-P IBIS !!!

After that I reckon you would pretty much part with ANYTHING.

The problem with trying new bikes is that eventually you just keep wanting to know what the next bike will ride like ... addictive is a word that comes to mind when I think of it

I don't have that problem. Once you own an Intense you know all other bikes will be kakker. ;)

So who owns Morewood now - this is news to me , why did Patrick leave? Is Morewood going Fong Kong now :( I love my Shova.... with all my heart

Nope! Far from it! A while ago Morewoodkid mentioned that they had quite a few new things in the pipelines (as you can see from the link below)... and he also mentioned that they are focused in locally hand made bikes!

Morewoods dead imo.

Well good thing that's only your opinion :P

Morewood bikes have some awesome new models added to their 2012 line-up... including the long awaited Sukuma.

The 2012 line-up:

- 2x Downhill: Makulu and Izimu

- 2x Freeride: Kalula and Zama

- 2x Enduro/All Mountain: Jabula and Sukuma

- 2x Hardtail XC: Kwela (29er) and Yebo (26er)

- 1x Marathon: Zula

Check them out here

Doesn't sound very dead to me... If anything they're looking strong as ever!
