Wow! LOADS of detail in there JXV! What macro lens and body did you shoot that on?

Quite old.....Nikon D200 with 105VR macro lens.... in the dark and drizzle using a torch to focus manually and then diffused off-camera SB800 flash for the actual pic..... nowadays one could probably get quite close to this with a modern camera phone.

Insects slow down a lot when cold and wet so you can get up close.

That is not a dragonfly/baby dragonfly munching on the bee. It is commonly known as a robber fly. Family Asilidae. They prey on smaller insects, commonly bees and other flies.

I have attached a close-up pic of a similar insect (pic taken with something a bit optically more high end than a phone so I hope it qualifies here). View it on a tablet or monitor for best impact.

I wouldn't want to meet one of these in a dream.

I stand corrected! Very nice picture. Glad I'm not an insect.

One of the girls at work tells me her hubby has a porn addiction...to cloud porn! Think there are some other addicts here too. He has set up an Instagram account for it. Will ask Toni for the handle tomorrow.

And that is a stunning pic, Flowta!

Thanks Tumbles

I've been slowly working away through pictures that I've collected since 2003 and never did any proper sorting (still a novice in that respect).

Makes it worthwhile to find a good one
