My main concern is water...however...I think the problem is I take big gulps of water, I should rather just do small amounts, I have been trying this method over at the 24h Oak Valley race as was able to do 2hours on one bottle....so I am sure I can do the same at the bouckaert. I just struggle a bit with my mouth getting dry...

Well then do the following -

1. Hydrate well the few days leading up the event with your training / race drink - I use 32Gi. Drinking lots of water just flushes the system and leaves you pap.

2. There are enough water points along the route to fill up at

3. Ride at your own capability - get dropped if you must and let the next bunch catch up to you. Will be a more rustige pace (hopefully).

4. Take salt tabs or rennie's with you for the cramps

1. Problem is not how much I drink, but the amount I sweat and the distance of the race.

2. And lose my bunch like that? Have never stopped at a water point. I'd rather die :D I have my pride.

3. Whats the fun in that?

4. Will stop at PnP and get a mini salt thingy.

@dale....ja, I have a extra 8 kg's as well.

Take a 500ml bottle with - middle pocket on the back - either cycling bottle or Energade bottle - have water in it just to rinse your mouth. Once it is empty, toss it at one of the water tables.

Alternative B is just to get used to it. I have had it a few times that my mouth gets super dry - I just breathe through my nose for a while and saliva forms in my mouth to moisten it.

That's the average weight of most individual bikes in the A - E seeding.

Saturday's race will take care of some losses.

That is the weight of my bike almost, and that isn't even light compared to some bikes :whistling:

btw, is the race Saturday or Sunday?

Edit: bud, it's Sunday not Saturday - but if I recall correctly, PPA had it on a Saturday on their calendar, but I could be wrong.

Nah, my error.

It's Sunday... when you're supposed to go to church.

There I fixed it.

Dude, riding my bike is my church. Gives me time to reflect, calm down....... and then get the moer in when an idiot driver almost takes me out while driving like a maniac coz they are late for their church.

Screw the 40°C temps, I went for a ride along the voor paardeberg link road (between the R45 and Paardeberg winery) and past the Boland landbou school back to the R44 - I friggin died with the head wind on that link road! It will be an interesting day in the saddle if the SE blows like it did yesterday.

 forgot about the wind :) .............. yep gonna be an interesting day iether way .............

Entered!

In E.

Normally, Meezo is hanging with me over the 'bars.

He is recovering after the high speed crash at the Cobra.

Who is racing with me in E?

Most likely, D & E will combine.

It's been the trend all year thus far.

OK, you guys asked for some changes and some fun, so..... The distance has been changed to around 53km's! And the total ascent has changed slightly  to around 1300m. Nothing serious, just a bit different. DO NOT expect the normal!

You just need to add that this is for the MTB route, not road :whistling:
