Today we were D to F. Snail pace to Riebeeck Kasteel turn off and then Bothma's started with a steady pace. Urgency was better when we turned left towards Wellington. Reckon it was a good hard day in the saddle. Where were you Meezo?

Snail pace? there a couple of guys in F who can really go, the same group that caught us in the tour de ppa

I had a good race. We stayed a big bunch the whole way...... wheelsuckers  :cursing: Group of 20 max always rotating the work on the front. Rest of the bunch just sitting. Make you stronger I guess <_<

I would have hoped that Botmas would have split the bunch but the descent down the other side was slow. Got Supersix3 and Zac.A's dad along that stretch. Also got BMCfan fixing a puncture (riding his team mates bike after his team mate got a flat).

Final 5Km was typical of me. Ended up popping out the front, countered two sprints and broke away....... around the first bend after the downhill towards the finish. Little did I know that there were two bends and not one.

Finished 4th (actually 3rd) in the A-C bunch. A fellow rider overtook me between the line and the mats. WTF is up with that?! We were a 5 man break away with a bit of a gap to the 5th man. No risk to losing his position.

My mistake anyway. Early ejaculation from the bunch AGAIN! Burger '11, Tour de PPA '12, Bouckeart '11 & '12....seems my 'Super Domestique in training' tagline is becoming a reality.

Dunno why the mats cannot be the finish line.

It creates loopholes in the system of official logging of results.

@ Tiny K,

You're on the podium in my book, man.

Well done!

Thing is when you put those guys in our bunch they tend to follow suit. There are def a few very strong riders in that F group. Good luck with your recovery bud!

@ Tiny: Well done! Sprinting is a art. You need to be at the pefect place at the right time. I just have no legs when it comes to the home stretch. Having 20 guys rotating position upfront is amazing. Wish we had that. See you wednesday

Hey Dale! How did it go?

I was off the pace at the first major climb, Jaco...

I am tweaking some elements in my preparations over the last month.

Back to the drawing board!

Thanks man. Yeah it is quite strange that they cannot just place the mats at the line itself. There is no difference between the finish line and 100m later except for people overtaking between that point.

Nice Recovery ride? After breaking my Collar 2 weeks ago!

After a Technical, lose of Big Blade due to FD Jamming, before Botmas. Pushed on, Just SPINNING like crazy! Finnished under Sub 4 hours.

Hi Frail, how is the shoulder feeling? You must be doing OK (or you are much crazier and tougher than me ;) ) if you rode this morning!

Tiny, unless you take a "flyer" ala Dennis (difficult to do in the final stretch) you are going to find it near impossible to ride away from the guys on the final stretch. Best would be to position you in the front part of the bunch and then time your final burst of speed so that you overtake the guys in the last few meters. Difficult to do, impossible to practise, but with more experience you should get it right. Congrats on your ride today.

The only way to practice is to sprint up every hill you can find when training.
