Hmmm... it really should work with a half link chain...

What about duplicating the ratio with a different chain ring and sprocket? Ie: requiring a longer chain (going shorter doesn't look like an option as you're already running a small chain ring).

Running 32/18 to start and may go 32/17 or 16 later, when i'm stronger, which should give me more play in the chain. For now, it's just annoying more than anything.

To be honest the chain tension looked fine when I a close look, what is exactly the problem, chain jumping off?

Also saw the bike on Sunday at the top of Alberts Farm.

I also run 32/17 on my SS which is a far better all-round gear to run than 32/18.

Btw Ryan, what ratio do you recommend for this weekend?

Rode 32/17 and was happy. If you've been riding this combo you'll be fine. A few sneaky sharp climbs where you have to really tug on the bars ;) but as you said, it's a better all round gear.

32/18 or 19 if you new to this (not you Thug) will be good. Any more and it's spin city...

No problem, just 'not perfect' having to remove the lock nuts from the tuggbolt to get it tight enough.

I'll have a go at 32/17, have a 16 sprocket but I'm not quite there yet!

Jis ou... 32/16 on a 29r... I'm guessing your terrain is fairly flat... Or you are Flippen strong!

Halflink Chain  much better than sliced bread ... always!

If I dont use a halflink I would have to use one of those ugly girly looking chain tensioners that just takes away the awesome look of a SS setup.

My frame doesnt have horizontal dropouts ... so Halflink it is!

Top speed on that ratio?

Can't tell you. When I spin out a stop pedaling and freewheel. I tend to gear up more for hills. This gear gives me a faster climbing ability then the bigger sprockets.
