Yesterday during the GP Koning Rollercoaster race one of the riders in front of me chucked his gel sachet in the middle of the road. Another rider went and confronted him and I reported him via email to the PPA.

Is this the best way to address the problem and is there a strategy to get rid of riders that litter along the road?

It is ofcourse difficult to prove since it is his word against mine.

The problem is that PPA does nothing about it...I reported a few riders for this and nothing....you would tink that PPA would welcome this, but they seem to ignore it.

This miffs me off and hearing that PPA does nothing about it makes our complaining seem like farting in thunder!

PPA needs to take action to set an example for other riders, otherwise, I might as well throw my GU sachet and energy bar wrapper onto the tarmac because it seems that it is the easiest manner of disposing of it (but I will never do it - it harms the environment which is not cool).

Come on PPA - the ball is in your court.

And the guys that drop banana skins

As long as its not on the road. Chuck it into the bushes, it is biodegradeable and will feed some insects / organisms. -_- :whistling:

dont stop sending these info to the ppa office. if you give them the details of the cyclist in the wrong they will deal with him.im sure you can contact the ppa office and ask them what they did about this cyclist.

Ooooohhhhhh don't get me started! Roadies and MTB, doesn't matter! they are all guilty. At the Xterra a week ago, there were sachets lying all over teh place. My view is that if you HAVE to drop your sachet, at least do it within 20m of the start/finish or a drink station. Otherwise, put it into your pocket.

The CLASSIC response when you suggest to someone that dropping their sachet was a bad idea is "That's why I pay an entry fee"! FFS! Genius! :cursing: How stupid can you get!!?? And do these einsteins think that the race organisers will find each and every sachet that some w&*^*nker dropped into the bushes?

From my point of view, they should send these "wonderful" people a letter telling them why not to litter and suggesting that they have a serious rethink about this attitude. I am not sure what more can be done really but perhaps keep a record of the guy and if he repeat offends, ban him from racing in PPA events.

As you can see, it irks me just a little! Now to go do my deep breathing exercises.

Why does PPA not reply to our emails? WHy should we follow up? We are assisting them and they seem to ignore us?
