Squier Posted February 14, 2012 Share Merged with original topic. Any comments on the dope-testing protocol? Usual or not? I don't know what the protocol is but it is rather peculiar that the top three were not tested. That being said; for Lance to dope now to be competitive in the Ironman scene just doesn't make sense. Why would he do it? I know his very driven and hates losing but the risks of being caught now outweighs anything that he could gain from competing. I just can't see him taking that risk. SwissVan Posted February 14, 2012 Share Merged with original topic. Any comments on the dope-testing protocol? Usual or not? Firstly... Are there any official confirmations that the top 3 were not tested? Twits from athletes dont count as official confirmation. As far as I know..... the WTC and the event organiser decide who gets tested, I don’t think it is automatic that the winner or top 3 get tested. Garfield2010 Posted February 14, 2012 Share Maybe the IM organisation is protecting it newest most powerfull asset. IM has for a time now been a money spinner and nothing more. Look at East London. There were way too many athletes for the race. It is impossible to control 3000 guys in terms of safety and the rules. Hundreds drafted and it was very obvious (and dangerous to say the least). I have done four of the 70.3's in East Londen and are done know. Rather save the R7k - R10k on the fees (if from Joburg like me) and enter local 70.3's of whihc there are plenty these days.... Do the math guys. 3000 entries at that price and these guys makes millions in profits. Lance is set to increase these numbers even more. Everyone who was doubtfull will enter if they know Lance is racing - who wouldn't....... It is all about the money PS:- I am not saying he dopes or doesnt dope.
